Just trying to find out how popular "the revolution" is here on CoinTalk. I know Ron Paul has quite a following on the internet. Moved here as it is a Political thread
I like Ron Paul and will vote for him in the primary next year. I don't buy into the idea that there is a revolution or that he has a chance of winning. But he's the only antiwar republican in the race, and the only republican candidate who did not support a nuclear first strike against Iran in the event they continue their nuclear program. It isn't clear whether the others were posturing, or if they really are insane. On the democratic side, it appears that Richardson and Kucinich are the only real antiwar candidates, but neither seems to have a chance of winning. So it seems clear that once again, the American people will be left with a choice that is really no choice at all. The powers behind the scenes will get their way and get their war regardless of what the majority of Americans might want.
I just returned from a local summer carnival tonight. Me and several acquaintances from meetup.com were there promoting Ron Paul and handing out pamphlets regarding his views. To me, the idea of Ron Paul possibly becoming the next president of the United States is exciting. I wish more of my fellow Americans realized who he is and what he stands for. I normally hate all politicians and, in the past, have rarely cared who won an election or even bothered to go to the polls. But this election is different. I really do think Mr Paul might be this nation's last, best hope for a reversal of fortune. Does anyone else feel this way? C'mon wake up America!
I dont think its as drastic as that...but he is the best choice and I will vote for him if he gets on the ballot. I like his ideas on monetary reform. I would say he doesnt have a snowballs chance of winning but I guess you never know.
I wish you were wrong, but I suspect you are right. With plans well underway to economically and politically unify all of North America, nobody should be surprised when the US loses its sovereignty over the next decade. Of course, the form with still be there, but the substance will be gone. A nation that doesn't control its borders, can't make its own laws without international permission, can't get elected officials to follow the will of the people, and doesn't control its own currency isn't really much of a country anymore. The whole treasonous program will be sold as representing real American values, and many people in forums like this one will actually believe it and welcome it. But their grandchildren will not grow up free in the traditional sense of the word.
I'm in the Ron Paul camp. I believe he is as honest a politician as there can be and by far the best option for our country. I think that he has a good chance. The polls after the debates have shown well for him. I just don't think that he has a chance as a Republican candidate. The debates are watched by all affiliations and the polls reflect choices by Democrats and Independents as well. The best shot Ron has is to continue to the primaries as a Republican so that he can be involved in the debates and get his message heard. Then after the primaries run as a third party candidate. I think that if he were one of three candidates that he could win. He's my guy in this election and I am happy to talk to anyone who is willing to listen about him. For the first time in my voting years I want to be involved in a candidate's campaign.
