Florida Family Seeks Justice After Unarmed Teen Shot by Neighborhood Watch Captain

The family of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin is demanding answers after police have yet to release 911 tapes or make an arrest nearly one month after the unarmed African-American teenager was shot and killed by a white neighborhood watch captain in a gated Florida community.

There you go again attacking the instrument and not the user. Are you also of the "kill the messenger" mentality? You cause a lot of anguish on this forum, but I'm not blaming your keyboard.

Let me know when you can make an argument that isn't entirely ad hominem.

Oh, my argument is perfectly logical. How many guns kill people each year? I'm talking about the guns themselves, not the persons using the guns. You've never been able to answer that question so I don't know why this time will be any different.

    Illogical response..... COMMENCE NOW!

Gated Communities. I had almost forgotten about that particular big city, blight on America. Is it any wonder that a young black teenager would get 'accidentally' shot in a gated community? Tell me that story again about how the big city folks aren't as racist because they interact with different cultures all the time...

An idiot with a gun should be no reason for others not to own guns.

The idiot in question should face the death penalty.

And exactly who was it who told you that the first time? I'm curious.

For what it's worth, Sanford, FL, where the murder took place, is a suburb of Orlando. It has a population of a little under 51,000. Orlando itself has about 236,000. Greater Orlando, including Deltona, Daytona Beach, Kissimmee, and Sanford is spread over some 4,000 square miles has a population of about 2,345,000. This is not a big city. Sounds more like a giant strip mall.

    Uhm! that would be your bosom buddy;

BTW, a giant amusement park would be a more fitting description.

I find the canned responses predictably posted with absolute reliability from exactly the people I'd have predicted.

In the title and OP I said, "Another Stellar Day for Gun Owners" and "Another law enforcement wannabe and his 9MM."

And yet when you look at the posts that follow, I have been accused of attacking guns rights, it has been suggested that racism had a part in the death which I did not even mention, and it has been posted that this idiot should not be a reason for anyone else to not own a gun.

I don't really mind if a thread gets sidetracked but I don't want to defend issues that I have not brought up either. Point is, don't put me on the other side of your pet issue just because you need a target. So if your comments were not directed at me specifically, I'm sorry but in the cases were they were, this is directed at you.

I guess out definitions of a big city are different. To me, a metropolis of 2.3 million a big city. The suburbs are just the parts of a big city inhabited by the people who have fled from the undesirables in the city and then often put up gates on top of that. Is it anyone that a minority would get killed in one?

In fact, I had the misfortune of living in a big city (San Antonio) that is almost the exact same population of a metropolis as Orlando is. Plenty of gated racist communities there too.

I really doubt the gun had that much to do with the kid's ultimate fate. If there hadn't been a gun, the Minority Watch people in the gated community probably would have beat him to death with clubs anyway.

Good. I didn't think you'd picked it from Faux News, but I wanted to be sure. So now explain to me how the fact that this kid was murdered in a suburban setting invalidates Moens assertion. The way I read what Moen is saying is that racism is more prevalent in rural areas than in urban ones, not that it is non-existent in urban ones. Or in suburban small-town gated communities.

    Same thing.

I didn't pick anything up from FOX news. You asked:
I answered. If you don't like the answer, go pick some new friends.

I didn't say that I thought you did get it from FAUX News I said that I thought you didn't. But I asked to make sure. And your answer was just fine. Where did I say it wasn't? I simply asked you another question. You're not normally this thick.

Trying to explain moen's racist views is way beyond my scope.

In all the excitement I seem not to have noticed Moen's racist views. Awfully thick of me I'm sure, but maybe you'll condescend to help. If you'll just provide some examples I'll attempt to explain them for myself. Or maybe I'll just ask Moen about them.

Just sounds to me like he's not too crazy about crackers. Anti-Crackerism, maybe. But not racism since while most, maybe all crackers are white (I'd guess anyway) not all whites are crackers.

Maybe I'm racist against myself? I did notice that I sneered a little at my reflection while I was in the bathroom this morning. I also don't like angry little bitter shut-ins. I'm just a fountain racism. :D

OMG you're not admitting to being one of those confused guilt ridden white Libruls who hate their own race?!? Anti angry little bitter shut-in bias is one thing. But this self-sneering issue has to be addressed. Work on it. Be like me. Every time I look in the mirror I fall in love all over again. :D
