After reading about our great mint deciding to spend 100 million dollars with a British Firm to fix its totally messed up website, I just could hold my tougne any longer and decided to write a couple letter to my Senators and Congressman. I know this is more then likely falling on deaf ears, or they will just place my letters into the round file and pretend they never got them. But what the heck, I just had to write them and express my opinion. Below is a copy of the letter I sent to both my Senators and to my congressman. I have deleted the names in the letter here and just used "who ever you are" in the post. Oh and no I didn't address them Senator/Congressman in the actual letter either. It was either just Senator or Congressman. Senator/Congressman who ever you are; I am writing today at my outrage over the US Mints decision to award a $100 Million dollar contract to a British Firm to over haul the US Mints online website. With today's economy and the number of AMERICAN people out of work, is the US Government (IE the US Mint) trying to tell us that no one in the US is good enough or qualified to do this work for them? I have heard on both the House and Senate floor about the outsourcing being done by American companies and that there are plenty of deserving Americans who are more than willing to do the job. Honestly Senator/Congressman who ever you are this is a slap in the face to the American people. The Administration has been more than willing to spend Millions of dollars on bailouts to banks, who by no one other than their own fault, put themselves into situations to fail, yet here is a Government agency who decided it would be better to spend $100 Million of our tax dollars to an overseas company to fix a website for a Government Agency. Yes I understand that the US Mint receives no funding from the Federal Government and relies totally on the sales from its website to continue to operate. But still, should they not be setting an the example and hiring Americans? I guess this is just more political hierocracy, in which do as I say not as do. As it is, the US Mint already gouges millions from those of us who take pleasure in collecting US Coins. In this I will state only one example which will show you just how bad the situation has become with the US Mint. In order to purchase just two fifty cent rolls of pennies from their web site, they charge $8.95 plus 4.95 shipping. That is a markup of 800%. If any other company in the US tried this, I am sure they would soon be out of business, yet because the US Mint has a monopoly in this area, they can charge whatever price they desire. Again let me stress my outrage at the basic fact the US Mint found it necessary to go outside our own country to hire a British Firm, to do a job in which there are more than thousands of companies right here in the states, who could and can do the same job. If not a better job. If I happen to get any responses from any of those I have written to, I will be more then happy to post the replys here.
Just hope that it was not one of the companies that installs and repairs our Gov's computer systems LOL

Our country just gives too much money away to foreign countries, this has got to stop. Would you give your income away if you could not afford to pay your bills with the money you had coming in? Heck no you wouldn't.
