Recently (March) I joined the American Numismatic Association. I was all fat dumb and happy for a couple of month reading "the Numismatist" then I realized the magazine, then the organization itself was giving me the creeps. It seems very very self serving for a very few social elites. Catering (advertisements) solely to those having 6 figure disposable incomes. Nowhere do I see.. Fred Smiths fancy nickel collection up for auction. I find just reading the articles, I hear fingernails on chalkboards. Maybe a recent article summed it all up for me. (very liberal interpretation) Mr. John Doe was a pompous ass, no one liked him, he looked down at everyone, but he was the authoritarian source on the 1817 grade B, Liberty Mooning America with chainmail, gold ducat. Now he is dead, his collection is up for sale and i'm getting a piece. Maybe i'm just a Numismatic News kind of guy. I read it cover to cover, and enjoy it all.
