Well now. It looks like the people have spoken. 3 to 1 support surveillance cameras protecting them and their property.
    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Crime-fighting beats privacy in public places: Americans, by nearly a 3-to-1 margin, support the increased use of surveillance cameras — a measure decried by some civil libertarians, but credited in London with helping to catch a variety of perpetrators since the early 1990s.

I think this pretty much clears up any questions raised in a prior thread...

Outside my castle I have nothing to hide, bring on the cameras but inside my castle, I might be caught doing something indescrete.

Like watching an old Mickey Mouse show and drooling over Annette Funochello. She was about 10 years old at the time but I was only 5. I sent a hard earned dollar off for my Mickey Mouse ears and thought they would never arrive, it took forever but they finaly did. That was the only way to watch the Mickey Mouse Club show was with your ears on.
By then the Howdy Doody show seemed too juvinile for me. LOL

Cloudswseepe, You speak of Nazi Germany, they did not have cameras all over the place, they relied on snitching on neighbors and speaking untruths.

You know...I wish I didn't have to lock my door at night.

I wish I didn't have to walk through a airport metal detector

I wish I didn't have to pay higher prices at retail stores due to shoplifting and shrinkage

I wish there were no wars in the world and the religion of islam minded its own business.

But guess what? I don't mind walking through metal detectors with my shoes removed and those sensors at retail environments because I am not stealing and I am not planning the next jihad attack.

I sure hope it offends those that are breaking the law and maybe...just maybe...it deters these people from doing the unspeakable.

I wouldn't have it any other way. The democrats try to scare people into thinking that their economic security can only be preserved by accepting the idea that only government programs can save them [i.e. socialism lite]. The GOP tries to scare people into thinking that their physical security can only be preserved by accepting the idea that only government homeland security programs can save them [i.e. fascism lite]. So it's a sad state of affairs we have gotten into where Americans have apparently completely lost their self confidence, and have talked themselves out of the liberty their fathers and grandfathers fought for by arguing over which is best, fascism or socialism.

It is all a house of cards. Pull one card out and it all collapses.

Lucky that I already know that.

The surveillance camera today is simply an extension of the pad and pen of yesteryear. Both have helped catch criminals and exonerate the innocent.

Let's look at a list of a few of the other things that a large number of people once supported and let us know how many of them you would support today.

    Slavery
    Prohibition
    Isolationism
    Native American genocide
    Work Houses
    Male only voting
    Bans on interracial marriage
    Japanese internment camps
    to name a few...

Now I'm sure that Olddan either still supports these ideas or thinks they are still going on but what about the rest of you? Just because an idea is popular at the time, does that make it right? And in this atmosphere of hyped up fear, is it really an accurate reflection of this country's opinion or is it just fear speaking?

Only a liberal like Moen woud tie slavery in with CCTV's. Nice try!

I'm sure that the analogy of a once popular idea to a current popular idea is a bit lofty for you to comprehend. So be it.

Bans on interracial marriage Absolutely and you can add same sex marriages to this also.

The line about law abiding folks not objecting to enhanced governmental police powers has been used repeatedly. Maybe you can fool all of the people all of the time.

Again, to be perfectly honest, the words 'administered judgement' comes to mind.

Now this is my oppinion and I'm not trying to change yours, you do as you think you must.

There, I've changed that BAD word, so now you can go on thinking of yourselves as perfect.

But he objects to being called a bigot. Maybe he should look up the meaning of the word first before he objects to the label.
