Where are the great problems solvers when we really need them to guide the embroiled thru the perils of modern world conflict? I remember growing up in a small Texas town there was a local philosopher ~ Denzel Shadbite ~ a self-taught man who could solve any problem which vexed him. His solutions often appeared 'non-linear' to conventional thought but he solved many a complicated situation with minimal effort. Several aspects of his pad were controlled by gravity, things you and I would NEVER consider. Yes, he was ahead of his time, Plexi-Glass bubble windows (from a WW-II Bomber) were just one of many modifications he made to a modest Ranch Home on the east side of Centerville, Tx.

Denzel observed nature. He understood action/reaction and the subtle consequences of both. Several times when (perceived) opportunity would knock Denzel stepped back; The bees in the tree Mrs. Morgan wanted Denzel to get rid of, he could even keep all the honey afterwards. Denzel quickly sensed a problem when she told him the ladder was in the barn. Never use barbed wire when contemplating fencing for hogs. If your dogs head is swollen don't run around the yard barefooted. The opossum's tail is slick for a reason. Don't drive over armadillos. The list goes on and on.

When I think of the situation in the middle east I think what Denzel would offer as solutions. The use of pop-guns (for a short time anyways) would be there. Hogs again come to mind along with white-sheets for fear of the genie is a powerful allie with potential. Use the superstitions of the Muslim against themselves. These are several NO-KILL alternatives which could prosecute the war for the Israelis just as effective as conventional methods and at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, Denzel Shadbite was a modern-day Galileo or Da Vinchi...

Bones, you gotta lay off the wild mushrooms and peyote buttons. Maybe it's the heat and isolation.

Nice try Danr. But there is no oil in Israel/Palestine.

Bone, you are correct. The eventual answer will have to be non-linear and come from the Islamic side. They need another 'prophet' with a message of unity and a solution so powerful that all of the Islamic spliter groups can rally behind it. Almost by definition, the prophet will have to map a course of action that cearly defines a path to victory through some sort of non-military tactic, since it must be obvious by now that they will never overcome the West by force, and alliances with nations such as Russia and China will be no more successful than their dealings with the West. Meanwhile, everyone will continue to wait, and die.

Strictly posted as satire for the situation.

Many say that our need for the strong Israeli presence is directly connected to oil. Are you going against that conventional wisdom?

What other possible reason could there be for our maintaining this (very very very costly)"friend in the region"?

Every now and than I get a chance to read the village idiot's posts when they are quoted by others. With that, I think his new avatar should be the attached file. Anybody second the motion?

Midas, it's suitable for people with a middle school mindset, but contributes nothing here. Name calling and personal insults are what usually destroys political forums. It's perfectly okay to be critical of a position statement, but not a person. Why not do the right thing and eliminate your offensive post.

    Midas,

I am not offended. Should we do an offensive poll now?

Danr has been called the village idiot on this site as far back as I can click on past threads and you haven't taken offense to that until Midas posted that picture. Have you read most of Danr's posts? To me that is more offensive than the attached photo!

LOL.. I have to disagree with Midas though. Is that not Billy right after Hillary found out about Monica?

I don't care if you aren't offended. That just tells people more about you, and doesn't do much for supporting your viewpoint.

I don't care whether past threads that include personal insults have been made. They were wrong.

It's okay to attack a person's viewpoint, but not the person. These are pretty basic rules of behavior.

If this is what will be considered normal and acceptable political discussion, I'm out of here. Have a good time with each other.

Isn't there a saying about " the kettle calling the teapot black". Calling someone elses thoughts as dopey! Practice what you preach before posting.

So, I guess that tells a lot about you!
