Please tell me, especially you Midas, just how you are going to attribute this to the Democrats or simply the Left in general? How did the Left manage to get all these greedy Republicans to take all that money? Was it hypnosis, were they drugged into submission, are they actually just Democrats posing as Republicans? What intellectual creativity will you conjure up to avoid seeing your party for what they are; A bunch of corrupt, greedy politicians only interested in lining their own pockets at the taxpayer’s expense?
With all the tax cuts for the wealthy, fiscal irresponsibility, and bribery scandals we've seen during this administration, historians will refer to this time period as the "Money Grab" years of the early 21st century. So much money, so few morals.

As I proved in previous posts, tax cuts have generated MORE income for this country. Do I need to graph it for you again? Look up C.B.O. numbers and the facts all support that taking the handcuffs off of business actually generates MORE income for the treasury The same thing happened after Kennedy, Reagan and now Bush proving increased tax revenues are key to a growing economy, NOT trying to tax yourself into prosperity with income-redistribution programs.

Remember it was Lincoln that said, "You cannot make the poor rich by making the rich poor". This has been time tested and proven! But go ahead with your class warfare because that is what you guys have been crying about since you were a fetus...oh, I'm sorry, as the left doesn't believe in that term as you call it a "tissue mass".

Now...just because you get a raise, doesn't mean you have to spend more than what you take in...especially on worthless socialist programs that actually create a higher dependency on the government than ever before. That's what this country needs is to pay not only the mother social subsidies, but her kids that she pops out who also end up dependent on the government.

As for ANY politician that commits a crime from Hillary and her 700 FBI files found in the personal residence of the White House to any of the forementioned parties, I say throw the book at them. They got caught and if guilty, then they should pay.

We could go back and forth with "gotcha" cases on BOTH sides of the aisle, but my politics is based on fiscal conservatism and a strong defense that goes out and deals with our enemies in their backyard, not ours. I also stated that today's reps are no better than yesterday dem's but today's dems have definitely fallen off of the main stream as all they got are more socialist programs...as long as they don;t have to pay for it.

So the Reps are the lesser of the two evils.

You went on about tax cuts for the rich (which are people that pays taxes) again and I responded. I also responded that anybody from Hillary to Abramoff that are found guilty of their crimes needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I have no issues with crooks on both sides of the aisle serving justice for crimes they commit.

I don't say this to many people but...expand your focus a bit and try to address the question put forth. How are you going to blame this on the Left/Democrats?

Many aspects to this one. The Native American tie-in is interesting (big $ coming out of those casinos). As I understand it this guy was ALMOST exclusively a Republican creep (not much of this dirty money ended up in Dem pockets). This guy is going to sing like a bird and the Republicans will sustain some real damage.

Midas your idealistic version of the Republican party is about to be crushed.

You give him way too much credit. I just want to hear his take on how the Left did this to those poor, poor Republicans. Ha!

I happen to believe Moen is right in that we need to expand our focus on the issue. This would apply to all of us involved, as this problem is being played out in Washington. The issues go a lot lot further into our society than just who is a Rep or who is a Dem. Now unless you think everyone at the top is Rep, then maybe you should also be concerned about these things CLICK HERE
A very famous individual said it best when he came up with this; CLICK HERE Let's not be casting stones at each other and get on with doing somethng about the problem.

Wow, perfect example of a loaded question, lol. Anyone who starts a post this way is not one to look to for a logical debate, clearly... but this thread is clearly just an argument, not a debate.

I think you are right that this is a much larger issue than just the differences between Democrat and Republicans. In asking Midas to expand his focus however, I meant that he needed to read and consider the entire post and not just the one small piece on tax cuts that caused him to fly off into a very well covered topic that he seems to return to again and again. But anyway...

I do think that more Republican will be nailed in this scandal than Democrats simply because they are the party in control and they had the power to get the things done that Abramoff needed done. I have no doubt that if the tables were turned in the other direction and the Democrats were the majority, they would be the ones with the most offenders and not the Republicans. Sometimes it's NOT good to be king I guess.

The real issue here is that Washington is broken and our representatives are only interested in us when they want our vote once every 4 years or so. The rest of the time they are in bed with special interests. The whole system needs to be changed but the people responsible for changing it are the same people that are profitting from it's current state. There is no one in Washington with the courage and the power to initiate real legislation that would correct the system. Possibly John McCain, but even his fellow Republicans don't like him and that makes him kind of a lone wolf.

Now I'm going to get a bit radical. Let's say in 2008 we have a Democratic ticket of Hillary Clinton and person X and a Republican ticket of John McCain and person X. I don't know about you, but it would be the first time in my voting experience that I wasn't forced to pick the lesser of two evils. I feel like I couldn't lose in this contest. I think it would have to come down to the VP choices and that would just be plain odd. Maybe Hillary Clinton and Geena Davis? Now thats a ticket I could support. Hubba Hubba(both Hubbas for Geena).

Here is an interesting tidbit. Jack did not give so much as one dime to a Dem between 2001 and 2004.

Here is an even more interesting bit of information. Danr, you only tell half-truths, and choose to make it sound as if it's all one sided. There is a name for a person who does such things.

You should have also said it's the findings in the 'federal' records that fails to show any gifts from Jack to Democrats. Well, you should have read the article closer and you woud have found this:

    Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND)

CONTRIBUTIONS — DORGAN RECEIVED NEARLY $95,000 FROM ABRAMOFF’S CLIENTS: “In all, Dorgan got nearly $95,000 in Abramoff-related money between 2001 and 2004.” In Dec. 2005, Dorgan announced he will return $67,000 received from Abramoff’s tribal clients. [AP, 11/24/05; Washington Post, 12/14/05]

    Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA)

CONTRIBUTIONS — HARKIN RECEIVED $21,000 FROM ABRAMOFF’S PARTNERS AND CLIENTS: Harkin received $22,000 in 2003 and 2004 from Abramoff’s partners and his clients. [USA Today, 12/3/05]

GIFTS — HARKIN USED ABRAMOFF SKYBOX: “Harkin twice used Abramoff’s skybox for fundraisers — once in 2002 and again in 2003 — without reimbursing.” Harkin reimbursed Abramoff’s clients in fall 2005. [USA Today, 12/3/05]

Care to explain why you failed to relate this piece of information?:kewl:

You will also notice they didn' t offer to return any of this money until after old Jack had come clean and said he was going to name names and tell what the money was being spent for. Then they said 'here take it back, we didn't want it' Yah! Care to defend these revolations Danr?
