Ah! Caught you in your lies so you revert to insults. BTW, one of the definitions of insane is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Insult after insult after insult and you are still expecting positive results? WOW!
Being an ex-catholic, my guess would be about 50/50. The question is should a religious organization, morally opposed to contraceptives, be required by the state to provide (pay for) services that are in direct conflict with the organization's beliefs. The case being argued is that many of the members do not hold this belief, so there for, the state can impose this requirement (mandatory hypocrisy). The counter-point is to allow exemptions for organizations with long standing moral beliefs on this issue, while not restricting it's members from practicing their individual opposition to this belief (selective hypocrisy). This could be done out of pocket or through purchasing supplemental insurance which would allow the individual to "talk the talk, but jump rope instead of walking". The third option would be to become an ex-catholic (integrity) but that is a discussion for another section of this news group. I know the counter point may sound a bit libertarian and reek of Tea Party (we do a bit more than just burn crosses), but we place individual choice above all. This is the primary libertarian premise, for an individual to be able live life on their own terms based on their own belief system. The corollary to this premise, is to allow others to live their lives on their own terms even when diametrically opposed to yours. Some people call that tolerance, I consider it to be the key component of the American Dream, which has little or nothing to do with being rich or winning a lottery. As far as contraceptives go, the most effective birth control which has reduced family size in the developed/industrialized countries is the two income family. Most couples are too tired, worn-out, and stressed for sex. Should this be mandatory or is it already?
More insults, huh? Is that the best you're capable of? Where's the proof to back up your "fact" that 99% of Catholics use birth control? C'mon, prove it. I dare you! I challenge you!
Your guess is way off. Again, how many Catholic families do you really know that have 10 kids these days? Not many is my guess. The proof is in the smallness of the current Catholic family size. You just won't see it. Often, the best indicator of a situation is reality NOT ideology. How many children are there in average Catholic family? That answer differs from country to country. The average Catholic family in the USA is not statistically much larger than the American national average. This trend highlights the fact that many American Catholics are ignoring the Pope's edicts on birth control and many more are now practicing the church-sanction family planning practices which includes ovulation monitoring (avoiding sex during ovulation periods). In many other nations, the average family size for Catholics can run between 4 and 7 children.
In all seriousness, I'd like to read your source for this information. If, indeed, 99% of Catholics use birth control I would like to read your source's study/polls/determining factors/conclusions, etc. That's a very interesting number and I would like to know where you sourced it. So, I'll ask you for a third time: Please post your source. Thank you in advance.
You, just like little Davy-wavy, get fixated on minor points so that you can avoid speaking to the overriding issues I guess so you can have the false sense of being right about something in a childish game of gotcha. You want me to participate is your pointless game and I simply ignore you. Move on. Grow up. And ask all you want. It's kind of fun ignoring you.
Minor point, huh? It was the entire basis of your argument, you idiot! **Well, if one assumes every argument you make is a "minor point" you just may be right afterall.
Face it, David. If he only tells the truth, his only argument is insults. Just like Obama did to pass Obamacare law.
Here's some research on Catholics. Half way down are opinions on contraceptives with 15% stating that it is morally wrong. I'll stick with my opinion that about 50% may actually use contraceptives. Seeing that the 15% will most likely not use contraceptives coupled with the 36% who do not see it as a moral issue (who may use it) and those 41% do not believe it is immoral (who probably have used it at one point), not factored are those who don't need it. http://www.pewresearch.org/key-data-points/u-s-catholics-key-data-from-pew-research/#contraception As to Catholics having large families, here's a good one for you. The Republic of Ireland's birth rate up until the 60's averaged 2.5 off spring per woman. It peaked in the 60's and 70's to 4.0 off spring per woman and has declined to 2.0 off spring per woman currently. The numbers are rough but within a few decimal points as per wiki. The large family syndrome is more economic than religious. The more technological a country becomes, the lower the birth rate. As to mixed race households, I have never seen a segregated Catholic Church from my first day in parochial school back in 1960 and some of my favorite relatives aren't white. In my family we don't care what you are, we care who you are. It called "The Melting Pot", look it up in a pre-censored American History text book.
You made a statement and I'm asking you to back up your "facts". I'm not fixated on it, but I would certainly like to read the source, that is, if you can provide the basis for your statement. Otherwise, just admit that you were lying. I'll accept either.
Hey, moron joe....in another thread you asked me to prove something I posted. Well, I did (and I used the huffington post no less!). See, it's really kinda easy when you know what you're talking about & not just repeating what others tell you to say (or worse, you are simply lying). Now it's your turn! You claimed 99% of Catholics use birth control. Prove it. Instead of fixating on my balls, act like you've got a pair. Either prove it or admit you can't. C'mon, your choice....prove it or tuck your tail...which one is it?
