    Norman Mattoon Thomas;
    (November 20, 1844-December 18, 1968)
was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America

The Socialist Party candidate for President of the US, Norman Thomas, said this in a speech, in 1944:

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."

    He Went On To Say

"I no longer need to run as a Presidential candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. A six time loser would be the last guy I quoted.

If at first you don't succeed, try again. And that is what he did

Now, you are telling me that this quote, has no impact on you whatsoever? IMO, this quote just screams what AMERICA is doing NOW! Everyone (And I am making an assumption that you as well) thinks that everything is OKEY-DOKEY and that OBAMA will CHANGE everything and we will all live happily ever after.
I feel that this quote is saying exactly what we are doing, we are not knowingly accepting socialism, and most of us are blinded by ignorance, we(America) is adopting socialism, by simply voting for a liberal democrat.

I'm sure you thought the same during the Clinton administration. And guess what? And you sure do alot of assuming. By everyone you must mean you also. Or do you mean everyone but you?

    Everyone who voted for him.
I make assumptions because nobody knows what OBAMA is really going to do, I question him greatly, as I do not believe him to be christian like he says he is, and do not believe who he really says who he is. He is about as dishonest as clinton.

I'm loving this a bit too, it seems to me through your posts that you and I will never agree on anything because, we have different religious beliefs, and we have different political views.
I would like to know why you think the way you do though, you already know why I think the way I do.

I think the way I do because I am a thinking man. I have reason and the ability to make my own conclusions. You choose not to see another point of view. I dont trust the government ever. You dont trust it when someone other than your pick is leading it.

I'd rather be in charge of everything. If Ronald Reagan was saying things like I want to control, this, this, this, and that, I would like him either.
You are wrong there, because I'd rather be in charge of ME, no matter who is in office. I see your view point, but I disagree, vice versa

Are you saying that capitalism does not have to be tempered?

I'm saying that I agree with the comment that we will turn into a socialist nation, once we, the American people, (the majority of us anyway) adopt socialism, through liberalism, which the democratic party has turned into.
All I am saying is that I agree, and this is foreshadowing of what is to come.
