This could be taken various directions through this discussion so I’ll keep the commentary minimal and just ask the question. 1-How might the Democratic Party, Post Trump era, focus on returning to a party of ideals from a party of Anti-Trumpism? 2-If Biden wins 2020, how might the Republicans focus on maintaining political dominance especially after someone like Trump rocked the political boat so hard?
I don't consider ill-concieved, liberal-branded legislation that creates more problems than it solves to be progress. In short, no . . . I don't.
You're right on this. Especially the diversification. They knew this in 2012, but Trump winning the primaries threw off their plan. Anyone remember when the GOP conducted an election autopsy on the 2012 race? They found they were losing ground with minorities, one of the fastest growing demographics.
This could be taken various directions through this discussion so I’ll keep the commentary minimal and just ask the question. 1-How might the Democratic Party, Post Trump era, focus on returning to a party of ideals from a party of Anti-Trumpism? What makes you think the Democratic Party ever strayed from being the Party of ideals? Was it the word of their opponents? I'd start comparing both Parties platforms over time and see which Party actually strayed the furthest from their ideals before asking a question like this. 2-If Biden wins 2020, how might the Republicans focus on maintaining political dominance especially after someone like Trump rocked the political boat so hard? By challenging everything in their packed courts. Then, of course, there is their legendary obstructionism, their states rights rallying cry, their whining about the deficit again, sewing general division with wedge issues, and cheating, lying, and hypocrisy manifesting itself in a complete lack of shame...You know...the usual stuff. Sorry, I forgot that you haven't been around all that long. The rest of us have seen this song and dance many times.
Yep, you don't want any debate on the issues and public policy at all. You want two parties that are the same. You are so arrogant that you think that you have the solution to every problem. I know that I don't have those answers. I believe in economic diversity. I believe in the people running their busumesses, trying out their new ideas and getting funding from almost exclusively private sources to make them work. I do not believe in top-down government planning and edicts that support only government devised solutions. That model leads to narrow minded thinking and massive corruption. That's why the Soviet Union failed. That is why socialism and communism have failed repeatedly. Those of you on the left never learn from history.
What's this got to do with the abandoned Republican plan to appeal to minorities and grow their base?
The Republicans have appealed to minorities, and you might be surprised at how many minority votes they get this year. Employment and wages have been up for minorities under Trump. Strong minority voices, like Senator Tim Scott and others have emerged. You people treat them with total disrespect. Like Biden says, "If you don't vote for him, you ain't Black." There are silent voices in the minority community in the inner cities who don't care for your platform. They are the most common victims of crime and don't support defunding the police. They can't say much, however, because a loud minority of thugs, Black Lives Matter, who push the communist agenda. You think that communist revolutions are cool because that's what you have taught in school. They aren't. Historically they have never kept their promises.
Appealing to minorities and bribing them are two completely different things. I know a number of minorities who are resentful of the shameless way liberal leaders bait them with benefits. Doubtless not all minorities feel this way, but a common sentiment among those who do seems to be that the double-edged sword of high taxation (to pay for the dependency trap) and onerous regulations stand in the way of them striking out and realizing the American dream on their own.
Youre right about me being new to this, 2016 was my first election I knew anything about it beyond who won.
have you ever scanned the crowd at a trump rally? A recent poll shows Biden by far outperforming Trump among Black voters, with 78 percent support. “Most Black voters are going to support Joe Biden,” said Ravi Perry, professor and chair of the Department of Political Science at Howard University, a historically Black university. https://docs.cdn.yougov.com/8nwf5tw7g2/econTabReport.pdf
How many polls did you peruse the results of before you finally found such a silly high number to claim as representative of the American People? I suspect Trump appeals to far more hard-working black folks than you would ever acknowledge. A professor at Howard U believing anything other than the Democrat in the White House? Talk about a paragon of objectivity. Oh, and about that YouGov poll . . . "The Economist/YouGov PollSeptember 6 - 8, 2020 - 1500 US Adult citizens"? . . . If I were the YouGov pollster, with their agenda, every one of those polled would just barely qualify as an adult . . . walking by me at the campus student center.
