This is an interesting article about Srdja Popovic, a Serb who, along with Slobodan Djinovic, founded a group called Canvas, an NGO, which stands for the "Centre for Applied NonViolent Action and Strategies." Canvas trains pro-democracy activists in the various methods of non-violent protesting, but encourages the activists to debate on which methods will work for their specific situation. The group has been involved with rebels from at least 40 different countries including Tunisia, Lebanon, & Egypt...prior to the recent "Arab Spring."
