I'm just the messenger on this one... //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// From the American Family Association. Results of a recent online poll. http://www.afa.net/petitions/islam/TakeSurvey.asp Are the mainstream media doing enough to report on the threat of radical Islam in the U.S.? Yes 58 No 2,481 Do you think the mainstream media have a more favorable view of Islam than Christianity? Yes 2,234 No 287 Do you think the mainstream media are intentionally refusing to report on the rise of radical Islam? Yes 2,396 No 131 Do you think radical Muslims will practice suicide bombings in the U.S. in the near future? Yes 2,422 No 99 Do you think our government should do more to appease the demands of radical Muslims? Yes 166 No 2,367
A good example of poll demographics...those results are exactly what one would expect from a christian activist website...
Let's look at the American Family Association's mission statement for a moment and see if they may have any biases: Mission Statement The American Family Association exists to motivate and equip citizens to change the culture to reflect Biblical truth. Philosophical Statement The American Family Association believes that God has communicated absolute truth to man through the Bible, and that all men everywhere at all times are subject to the authority of God's Word. Therefore, a culture based on Biblical truth best serves the well-being of our country, in accordance with the vision of our founding fathers. Battlefields in the Culture War The American Family Association sees the culture fighting over. . . * Preservation of the Marriage and Family * Decency and Morality * Sanctity of Human Life * Stewardship dd: * Media Integrity This one is especially funny. I wonder why they might design a survey that is biased towards Islam? I'm sure they are skilled professional survey designers and there is no chance that they are skewing the questions one way or the other. I'm sure that they made sure that they obtained a representative sample of the US population. The truth is that these people have abolutely no credibility in design or implementation of any survey and the results they receive should be considered with that knowledge in mind.
"Facts do not 'speak for themselves.' They speak for or against competing theories. Facts divorced from theories or ideas are mere isolated curiosities."........I'll give you one guess!
regardless...it is the result that a poll posted on a website like that would, without doubt, achieve. The only shock is that there were any people at all voting for the other side.
I give up. What are you trying to say? First: "Facts do not 'speak for themselves.' Facts are usually the final word because they are indisputable. Second: They speak for or against competing theories. In some cases I suppose but the point is... Third: Facts divorced from theories or ideas are mere isolated curiosities." Thomas Sowell was referring to economics when he said this.
First: The American Family Assoc. and it' s credibility with surveys. 1. You say they have NO credibility! 2. I manintain that they DO have credibility! this would appear to be cmopeting theories on their ability to conduct surveys. This would make the whole thing just a isolated curiosity, as I can not find any other person that believes as either you or I on this issue. You maintain that he was talking about economics.....I say he wasn't! Again an isolated curiosity! Why do you find this to be such a hard concept to follow? If you'r still having trouble with it, ask your wife to explain it to you.
Thats disingenuous...you are a bright man, you are aware that who asks the poll, and who they direct the questions to (as well as wording) can effect the answer. The poll is posted on a site frequented, most likely, almost solely by people of a certain set of beliefs....thus the poll will be dictated by the people it is presented to...in this case people who frequent a Christian activist website...its just that simple. If you posted the exact same poll, wording aside, on another site frequented by another demographic (say your buddies at the ACLU), the results would be completely different. If you are looking for an unbiased sampling you will poll a diverse demographic. This poll simply shows how people who frequent a Christian activist website feels on this subject. This poll aside, most polls are very dubious and its best to take any of them with a grain of salt. but this is a good quote: It shows that you are aware that nothing you say is fact or objectively correct but simply one mans theory. A very humble stance indeed and something we all should keep in mind.
What does this prove other than he is probably gainfully imployed, and respected for his thoughts on some issues.
So you're saying its just like any poll that does unequal sampling, like CNN, newsweek, time, abc, cbs, nbc, fox, bbc, reuters, etc. Anyone can make a poll red just how they want to...
Yes...in essence polls on the whole are useless but some DO reach a wider demographic than others given the nature of where they are placed...this one is extremely narrow and probably reached only those who frequent this christian activist website..
A poll always states a plus or minus error rating. None of them are exact but without even the basic fundaments of survey design and implementation they are pretty much as useless as just making up the data.
This poll was conducted by the Pew Reserach Group...definitely NOT some Chrisitan group as islamic appeasers would let you believe. It IS what it IS...islam is and always will be a cancer of the civlized world! I know islamic appeasers were "comforted" by the headlines that reported this research (i.e., USA Today, "American Muslim Reject Extremes"). Most infidels like myself took a closer look at the numbers and I found more reasons to support my argument that islam is a cancer that must be defeated. The Pew Research Center study reported that 8% of the estimated 2.4 million Muslim Americans believe suicide bombings are justifiable. For 18 to 29 year old American muslims, that number jumps to 26% of American muslims believe suicide bombings are justifiable!!! Therefore... Am I to conclude that 192,000 American muslims think the indiscriminate murder of innocent women and children can be justified?? Or how about the 5%, or 120,000 American muslims, who expressed a favorable view of al-Qaeda???? Or, how about the 27%, or 648,000 American muslims who were non-committal when it came to al-Qaeda?? How in the hell can you be non-committal to freakin' al-Qaeda??? But wait..."true" muslims just offered more proof of who they are. 648,000 American muslims don't have an opinion eiher way of al-Qaeda...unbelievable! Even after taking into account the poll's margin of error of +/- 5 percentage points, the numbers are staggering and indeed troubling. Appeasers may suggest that the American muslim community has integrated in our society. I find little comfort their suggestion based on their actions and this research. Told you so! Check out the research for yourself: http://pewglobal.org/reports/display.php?ReportID=253
yeah...both THIS poll that the thread was STARTED ABOUT is: This poll is a project of American Family Association stay on topic skippy...
AND...Who reported what the NY Post reported and guess where the NY Post dug up this research??? AND...WHY did it ask those questions? The Pew Research Group!! The American Family Association is just reporting what the NY Post reported from Pew Research... Here is the article from the NY Post that the American Family Association referenced: http://www.nypost.com/seven/05232007/postopinion/editorials/a_hair_raising_poll_editorials_.htm Now say "allah akbar" this...right here, buddy!
That poll that is linked in the first post is a poll posted by the christian crusading website AMA...The results of that poll (which were the subject of this thread) on that website are results from crusading Christian fundies like yourself who frequent that site...What inspired them to post that poll is of no consequence to the results...its call reading comprehension my jack booted friend. This kind of shenanigans might go over well at the young republicans pot luck dinner and book burning box social but try to concentrate when you are trying to converse with the adults kiddo.
Keep talking...islamic cancer is getting worse as these animals are just following the deeds and actions of their terrorist prophet: The Army of Islam Issues Video of Captured BBC Reporter Alan Johnston Giving Speech, Repeats Demands for His ReleaseBy SITE Institute- June 1, 2007 The Army of Islam [Jeish al-Islam], a jihadist group operating in Gaza, issued through the Global Islamic Media Front to jihadist forums today, Friday, June 1, 2007, a 5:39 minute video featuring captured BBC reporter Alan Johnston, in which the captive gives a speech addressing the alleged crimes of Britain and the West against Muslims, specifically Palestinians. The group had previously issued a statement on May 9, 2007 with an accompanying video showing only Johnston’s ID, claiming his capture and giving as demands for his release Muslim prisoners in British prisons, in particular, Sheikh Abu Qatada al-Filistini.Johnston was reported captured on March 12, 2007.
I am never cornered...I let the FACTS speak for themselves! Just imagine if Pew Research reported that 13% of Christians had been polled as supporting suicide bombing. Do you think the USA Today headline would have been that Christians are "opposed to extremism"? Moen would be creaming in his pants with such news! It seems as if once again we are witnessing the soft bigotry of low expectations...due to the PC culture of people like Moen. No freakin' muslims, or anyone else, in the U.S. or anywhere else should be supporting suicide bombing. If a significant number in the U.S. does support them, as seems to be the case, that is a matter of grave concern for government and law enforcement officials, and raises numerous important questions about immigration, the monitoring of American mosques, and more. But if anyone is concerned about it, they aren't getting a hearing in the Washington Post or USA Today! By comparison, muslims in France, Spain and Britain were almost twice as likely to say suicide bombing is sometimes or often justified, and public acceptance of the tactic is even higher in some countries with large Muslim populations, such as Nigeria, Jordan and Egypt. Oh, well then, everything is OK here. U.S. muslims assimilated, they are opposed to extremism. I got it...yeah, sure. Allah akbar right here you appeasers!
