11 Sep 01, 5 Year Anniversary and Conspiracy Theories

As Americans we haven't taken the time to ask for more indepth proof of anything. The average person I know is content to go to the Saturday football game, and the kegger afterwards. Monday is just another day to get up early and go to class, where the same questions are ask that were ask last week, and the same answeres are repeated as before. Nothing changes and everyone is content. I havent seen anyone standing up and saying they have lost anything, and if they have, evidently they haven't thought about it very much. Life goes on as before and again, 'nothing changes'.

Very sound advice for what I have been able to determine. Campus is a very good sounding board as long as you remember that the majority of us here are doing it because it was expected of us and not to do it would cause an uproar. No one wants to rock the boat, at home, at school, or in our government. That is just the way it is and I don't see any change, any time soon. Be it for the better or our detrement.

Boy, Cloudy! Both you and Ben have some very strong points to consider. I appreciate both of your oppinions. Thank you.

I was just pointing out that when opinion polls show a certain percentage of people as skeptical of anything the government says, there is a reason for the skepticism. It doesn't make them right or the government wrong, but it isn't completely irrational either.

The best thing to do in school is to not rock the boat and get the best grades you can regardless of what your personal opinions might be. You can change the world after graduation. I don't think this is being dishonest. I had a friend who went to peace marches in the 60s because it was a good place to meet girls, even though he was secretly for war. Everyone has a different motive for everything.

 

Well, I'm in Minneapolis, Minnesota this afternoon. An 8 hour drive. Over for the Gaelic/Celtic Renaissance Festival and plan on being Irish all weekend long. No more political stuff for me. When I went back for my 20 yr College Class reunion (SFASU) a couple of years ago some I knew were shocked to realize I'd done 20+ years in the service. My non-linear Utopian views had changed. Of course those were the ones who remained true to their principles and never let the happenings of the real world interfere with a their lifestyle one bit. Man, let me tell you 40+ yr old (80s style) hippies in parachute pants and wearing bandanas don't move to 'LoverBoy and Van Halen' like they used to, but they tried...

Putting 20 plus years in at the same bank or construction company just doesn't turn my crank. But, that's what a couple have been doing. Same thing with no upward movement.

Familiar smells wafted in the air. Ones I lied about knowing anything about back in 1982, LOL... Anyway, at some point during that 20 year Ulyssesian Odyssey I realized the world was a much bigger place than just Nacogdoches County and the State of Texas. You could say I followed somewhat the same path as my father, he did virtually the same thing from 1935-1957. Two wars, saw the world and ended up back home trying to explain to all his old friends why the way he was...
