Another Right-wing lie exposed for the false narrative it is. They lie as easily as they breath. They don't learn from their lies and keep believing the lies they are told in spite of being shown the truth.

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Of all the falsehoods told about President Barack Obama, the biggest whopper is the one about his reckless spending spree.

As would-be president Mitt Romney tells it: “I will lead us out of this debt and spending inferno.”

Almost everyone believes that Obama has presided over a massive increase in federal spending, an “inferno” of spending that threatens our jobs, our businesses and our children’s future. Even Democrats seem to think it’s true.

Obviously the Obama White House put the screws to the OMB, the CBO, Haver Analytics, Bloomberg, Politico, and the Dept of Labor, not to mention WSJ Market Watch. White House pressure. There can be no other explanation for this.

Perhaps you could post a chart of our national debt? 10.6 trillion when W left office, where are we now after only 3 years 3 months under Obama.......I am very curious as to what the numbers are?
The best record so far is Bill Clinton. You folks are coin guys right? How about the price of gold ( the value of our dollar ).
Most republicans and conservatives hated Clinton, but the man was fiscally a real decent, an excellent President. W and BO, not so much.

The Bush spending didn't stop when he left office. Much of what he implemented like Medicare Part D, two massive taxes cuts, and two wars off-budget, continue to add to the deficit. I think that you are right about Clinton. We should go back to the tax rates we paid under Clinton.

I think we should go back to the rates they paid under the Socialist Dwight Eisenhower.

All that shows me is that I absolutely should not vote for either Bush or Obama in this election if I want spending to not continue at historically ridiculous and nation damaging levels.

I'd agree with that point Stu, but not on the "all it shows" part. It is at ridiculous levels, true...and I too don't like it, or believe it's sustainable (at the current tax rates). I have one question though, and that is: Are the figures adjusted for inflation? Even in ten years, the difference between the buying power of the dollar is significant.

Indeed. In fact, if one were to base his vote solely on a president's record of spending and the election were between Bush and Obama, he would vote for Bush.

I notice there's not a lot of denying the statistics going on. Would seem to indicate to me that the Repigs haven't got much in the way of a refutal. And if AZJ and cents would actually look at the graphs rather than going into knee jerk Faux mode they would see that the large one covers 50 years. It might feel like Bush's regime lasted 50 years, but it I believe it was really quite a bit less.

Remember, it's the narrative that must be adhered to. Facts are just a nuisance. Their first reaction is that they can’t refute but they can go off in a tangential direction that doesn’t actually address the point of the post. “It’s the narrative Stupid” might as well be their mantra.

Are Bush's policies still affecting the debt? Yes! And they will for years to come.

Glad you like it. It comes from the same non-partisan source that gave us "Dims" and "Libtards". Sometimes it's convenient (and appropriate) to shorten it to simply "Pigs".

I like Republi-CONS myself because they con so many stupid people. I can honestly say that I know when someone from my side of the political aisle is omitting something or stretching the truth a bit as infrequently as that happens but I just can't be convinced that as manipulative and obtuse as the Right-wingers are constantly, that their followers have any kind of clue or even care.
