Hey everyone, I was just a bit curious as to what everyone thinks of China (particularly the CCP) at this point in time. It's been something I've been thinking about recently, that they're really the last bastion of Communism in a world that is growing more tolerant of that particular economic system. I really think they're our biggest adversary at the moment, being similar to the US in size and 3 times the population. Not to mention how much of the tech they control, with TikTok being popular worldwide and companies like Huawei having their products sold in the US. Then there's the spy balloon, we're coming up on a year since it happened, and nothing has been done except for it getting shot down after it had been allowed to surveil as it pleased. What else is there? Xi Jinping's visit to San Francisco, where he was greeted with Chinese flags. Sometimes I think MacArthur was right, but then again I don't think nukes are the solution to everything. We can't nuke everyone we dislike. I'm mostly just venting because I've been thinking about this frequently lately, though I haven't come up with a solution. I think the solution is not to greet them with fanfare and their flag. I did a bit of research and it turns out President Trump did sanction China, but they seem to be pretty bold, still. What do you think? Are they the most serious threat to the US? Would you consider it to be Russia instead? There's got to be a diplomatic solution to China's current opposition to the US's very existence, despite MacArthur's solution being the simplest. This probably isn't an Occam's Razor situation, though. Maybe I'm overthinking it because I virulently hate, or rather, oppose, China but only because of my severe disdain for Communism in general.
China is one of our biggest threats. Of course, there are other major threats such as Iran, Russia and North Korea. I believe, however, that these external threats are minimal compared to threats from within our own country by factions who want to fundamentally change our way of life, i.e., liberals, socialists, progressives, far-left-wing democrats, communists and other assorted mentally-challenged ideologues. These are the true existential threats to our Republic.
The threat is not to the US alone . . . it is to civilization at large. Moreover, the threat should not be so simply identified by the labels presently assigned to it . . . more labels will surely surface in the future . . . they should universally be recognized as those who would have others do for them what they are able to do for themselves.
I have hesitated to respond to this because it won't be popular, but here goes. There are several here that have seen the enemy and know that he is diametrically opposed to all we stand for. There are no amount of apologies, hugs, flowers, or reset buttons that will change that. Our enemy has become wiser over the years. He has effected propaganda in the form of social media to create a rot from within... And has done so quite effectively. Your enemy has the manpower, the will and the patience required to allow us the time to crumble from within. Your enemy smells blood in the water. That is why he is smiling. He senses the weakness and is patiently waiting. He has poisoned the minds of the young with transgenderism and a loathing for all except self and watches our population shrink while he patiently waits. He ties our hands with economic doom and gloom while he scours the earth for resources to build his own forces. And he pads the pockets of our leaders effectively tying their hands to stand against him...... Yes, the red Chinese are most certainly awaiting just the right time. It may be a year. It may be fifty years. But yes, they most certainly envision a world free of the red, white and blue.
I can't see the poll results but it seems like it's mostly a "yes", and I'd agree. It does seem to be largely a culture war, as CoinOKC said, with the political left as an "enemy." I wouldn't necessarily confine it to the political left, as some right-wing libertarians tend to take it quite far (think horseshoe theory) and support some things like abortion which I find to be immoral. I consider myself a moderate Libertarian for this reason, some of these things are degenerate and detrimental to society and the more extreme Libertarians can't see it. Some Conservatives tend to be too far to the other side, I prefer the middle ground. That said, I have common sense and don't think these foreign powers should have such power over our culture, especially our youth. I agree with you @Mopar Dude on the tactics of our enemy, growing up alongside social media I can see a shift from the early days to the nonstop stream of propaganda we have today. I avoid TikTok like the plague for that reason. I hope it's not fifty years, I can't see the cultural rot continuing much longer, but I do hope we have an ideological shift soon. Many young people seem to be gravitating towards the Church since that's pretty much the only place one can be countercultural anymore. It may just be a cultural pendulum about to swing back in the direction of traditionalist values.
I never been one to force my relationship with the Almighty on someone.... But I know in my heart that the church is the foundation for a well rounded life. It heartens me to hear that.
What nobody ever brings up is the fact that the Communist Regime since taking power in 1949...... Invaded South Korea in 1950/ alongside their North Korean allies vs US/ allied forces Chairman Mao is still on their money/ worshipped by the Party. This monster killed more people then Stalin in USSR. As recent as 1989 Tiananmen Square. thousands were shot/ crushed by People's army tank korps. They are presently commiting genocide vs their Muslim populace in Xinjiang. In 1949-53 they dis same in Tibet. On the economic side they have been involved in economic espionage for years. They broke sanctions vs Putin by supplying Russia with weapons/ buying their petro products. Now they threathen to invade Taiwan. And they ae good at imprisonment of innocent foreigners to use as bartering chips. In otherwords a "rogue" nation, as Trump put it.
I live one mile away from a huge Michelin tire plant. This plant only produces enormous tires that are used on earth moving equipment. Three of those giant tires fill a shipping container.... Every tire that comes out of that plant goes into a Chinese shipping container and is trucked to the port to be loaded aboard a Chinese freighter. Every single one of them..... What does that tell you?
