Donald Trump tops Hillary Clinton in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup, according to a new Fox News Poll that also finds majorities of voters feel both frontrunners lack strong moral values and will say anything to get elected.

Trump has a 45-42 percent edge over Clinton, if the presidential election were held today. That’s within the poll’s margin of sampling error. Last month, Clinton was up by 48-41 percent (April 2016).

Clinton is ahead by 14 points among women (50-36 percent). Yet Trump leads by a larger 22 points among men (55-33 percent).

He also tops Clinton by 37 points (61-24 percent) among whites without a college degree (working-class whites).

Overall, Trump is preferred by 24 points among whites (55-31 percent). He’s even ahead by nine among white women (47-38 percent).

Clinton has a commanding 83-point lead among blacks (90-7 percent), and is up by 39 among Hispanics (62-23 percent).

The poll includes an oversample of additional interviews among Hispanics/Latinos nationally. Watch for more on those results Friday on FoxNewsLatino.com.

In 2012, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney won by 20 points among whites, while President Barack Obama won blacks by 87 points and Hispanics by 44, according to the Fox News exit poll.

One reason for Trump’s showing is there is parity on party unity, as 83 percent of Democrats back Clinton and 82 percent of Republicans support Trump.

Independents go for Trump by 46-30 percent, although one in five would vote for someone else or stay home (20 percent).

Enthusiasm is on the GOP’s side, as more Republicans (74 percent) than Democrats (66 percent) say they are extremely or very interested in the presidential election.

The poll shows Bernie Sanders has a 46-42 percent advantage over Trump in a hypothetical matchup. Sanders was up by 53-39 percent in April. However, the Vermont senator trails Clinton in the Democratic nomination race by what is considered an insurmountable number of delegates.

The drawn-out nomination battle may hurt Clinton among the base, as 1 in 10 Sanders voters say they would pick Trump over her in November (11 percent).

    Candidate Characteristics

Clinton and Trump have made quite an impression so far. Overall, voters feel the candidates lack honesty, empathy, and strong moral values, and that they’ll say anything to win.

Clinton has a net negative honesty rating of -35 points. That’s because a new low 31 percent say she’s honest, while a record 66 percent say she isn’t.

Trump does better on this measure, although he is still underwater by 17 points: 40 percent think he’s honest and 57 percent say he’s not.

In addition, over half say the phrase “has strong moral values” does not describe Clinton (57 percent) or Trump (58 percent).

Many think “cares about people like me” doesn’t fit Trump (55 percent).

More voters than not think the “cares” attribute doesn’t work for Clinton either (46 percent yes vs. 51 percent no).

Clinton performs best on “is a strong leader,” although the reviews are mixed: 49 percent say it applies to her, while 50 percent say it doesn’t.

“Strong leader” is also Trump’s best trait, as 59 percent feel it describes him (38 percent disagree).

Even so, half or better say “is a reliable leader” doesn’t describe Clinton (55 percent) or Trump (50 percent).

Most think Clinton (71 percent) and Trump (65 percent) will “say anything to get elected.” And majorities think the main reason the former secretary of state (57 percent) and businessman (56 percent) are running is for themselves -- rather than for the country.

Who is more corrupt? By a 49-37 percent margin, voters give that dubious distinction to Clinton.

    Pollpourri

What about former Republican governor of New Mexico, Gary Johnson, who is favored to top the Libertarian Party ticket? He ran in 2012 and received almost one percent of the vote nationally.

The poll finds Johnson garners 10 percent in this hypothetical three-way matchup. But that wouldn’t change the race, as Trump still holds the edge over Clinton: 42-39 percent.

The Fox News poll is based on landline and cellphone interviews with 1,021 randomly chosen registered voters nationwide and was conducted under the joint direction of Anderson Robbins Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R) from May 14-17, 2016. The poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points for all registered voters.

Liberals must be crying in their beer over the fact that Donald Trump, a political unknown until last year, has managed to overcome the giant, crooked Cunton machine. Hillary Cunton, who has been on the political scene for ~25 years starting as a hostess at the White House up through a carpetbagging Senate position is being toppled by Donald Trump, an extremely successful businessman.

Sorry, liberals, but Cunton is just not well-liked. Perhaps it is her lies that have turned people off. Perhaps it is the deceit. Or maybe the underhanded business shenanigans. Or all the coverups. Maybe it is her attempts to circumvent the law by using a private, home-brewed Internet server. Whatever the reason, she's not a good candidate. No, she's not a good candidate, especially against someone as vibrant and charismatic as Donald Trump. Trump builds excitement. His followers are excited. He's a powerhouse that Hillary Cunton wasn't expecting to have to go up against.

All I can say is, "Good luck, stupid liberals, because you're going to need it".

Poll MSNBC and Clinton will be on top. I put zero faith in cable news polls that use their audience . Of course Trump wins this poll.
    Tell ya what.....
Social media is more accurate as is coworkers and family.
I know many that voted for Obama and are hating on both candidates but will hold their nose and vote Trump.
Folks just do NOT like or trust Crooked Hillary.
Even my son and his friends are voting AGAINST Hillary....not FOR Trump.
    The youth hates her.

The youth simply don't know her; they didn't grow up with her name splattered in the headlines. They know her as the wife of a president, but so what? Her name may as well be Bess Truman for all they know and/or care. And anything they hear about her is not good. They hear that she initiated an illegal Internet server and that she and her cronies are under investigation by the FBI. They hear that she enabled her husband to sexually abuse or rape women. They hear about her lies and her deceit. They hear about how she was against gay marriage, but changed her opinion for political expediency. They didn't grow up knowing her when she was First Lady/Hostess at the White House, so they simply don't have a reference. She's just another name to them that they don't personally associate with.

She's doesn't have the "hip" factor that Obama used to his advantage back in 2008. In fact, the only thing "hip" about Hillary is the fact that her ACTUAL hip might break if she trips on the hem of her pantsuit, falls and can't get up.

Hillary Clinton Leads Donald Trump in Latest New York Times/CBS Poll
By Sean Colarossi on Thu, May 19th, 2016 at 8:59 pm

The former Secretary of State leads the billionaire buffoon by six points, even as she remains in an increasingly heated primary campaign against Bernie Sanders.

In a new poll released Thursday by The New York Times and CBS News, the former Secretary of State and likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton leads billionaire buffoon and presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump by six points – 47 to 41 – among general election voters.

While the survey shows both Trump and Clinton with favorability ratings under water, Trump performs slightly poorer with a 55 percent unfavorable rating among the broader electorate. Clinton is seen in an unfavorable light by 52 percent of voters.

About half of those surveyed believe the former Secretary of State has the right kind of temperament to be president, while seven out of 10 said Trump does not.

Trump’s dismal performance among key voting blocs gives Clinton the edge going into November, the poll shows.

Among women voters, a whopping 60 percent view Trump unfavorably. A scant 14 percent of voters under the age of 30 view him positively, and nearly 70 percent of nonwhite voters have a negative opinion of Trump – a kiss of death to any candidate hoping to win a national election in 2016.

As the presumptive GOP nominee faces heat for keeping his tax returns private, the survey showed that six in 10 voters believe that any candidate running for president should make the records available to the public.

More good news for Clinton, the New York Times/CBS News poll noted, is the fact that President Obama’s approval rating hit a three-year high. Fifty percent of Americans now approve of the current president’s job performance, while just 43 percent disapprove.

The likely Democratic nominee remains in an increasingly heated primary campaign against Bernie Sanders. Like Trump, she is likely to see her numbers rise once she is the presumptive nominee.

Still, less than six months before voters will choose the 45th president, Hillary Clinton remains the favorite in a likely contest with Donald Trump.

And now Trump pulls ahead in the average of all polls. If she keeps dropping like this, she is going to be negative by the time the election rolls around.

Here is what people that are politically naive believe....any poll.

The truth is that the media, whether that be the print media, the cable network media, or the national network media, needs to portray this election as a horse race in order to keep people tuned in and those advertising dollars flowing. If you are dumb enough to buy into their hype, good for you.

Here is what is going to happen. From now until the end of summer, the election will be portrayed as a neck-and-neck horse race by every news outlet in the country. The advertising dollars will flow. About the end of August or just into September, the polls will all start declaring that Hillary Clinton has pulled ahead by x number of points. None of them want to be seen as wrong in the end. Then Hillary Clinton will be elected in November.

Believe whatever you want to believe until then. You simply buy into the nonsense. Again, good for you.

    So again I will ask;
You said "So you have no rational response so you make shit up." Just exactly what "shit" did I make up?

I will bet I get one of two responses - again. Either you will ignore this or you will change the topic (with some insults). Which is it today?
