I judge them by their ACTIONS, not what some cleric says on CNN. If you trust what they say, you are more stupid than I first imagined!

I read these passages word for word. Unless there is some hidden code in the words I am reading, I get what these words mean. Obviously, you have a hard time reading and understanding what these passages say.

Koran 9:29. Fight those who do not profess the true faith (Islam) till they pay the jiziya (poll tax) with the hand of humility.

So here Prophet Mohammed is instructing a true Muslim to fight people of other religions until the unbelievers debase themselves and pay tax (like socialist programs) for their existence. So the greatness of Islam is revealed only when follwers of other religions are humiliated.

Koran 8:12 Remember Thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the believers, I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, Smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger tips of them."

Here Mohammed is giving step by step instruction on how to torture and kill Kafirs if they don't follow Islam. Tolerate prophet, would you say?

Koran 9:5 Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolators wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."

In the above verse Prophet Mohammed is clearly instructing his followers to kill the idolators in any brutal way possible until the idolators submit themselves to Islam. Allah is indeed merciful !!

Koran 9:73 Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their Home: an evil fate.

Again I am not an Islam scholar and neither are you. We are both much more ignorant that you think. There are people who spend decades studying just the side writtings like the Medina Constitution. It is entirely likely that these scriptures mean the exact OPPOSITE of what they appear to say.

Danr is reaching far back into a religion's history (about a 1,000 years ago) to find the worst that one be found, even if it is in a time of war or is in utter contradiction to the teachings of the faith. In a fit of self-congratulation, its people like Danr who then holds their straw man up against our list of current day islamic attacks - which are bound to a particular and current timeframe and constrained by the rules of non-warfare and overt religious motivation - failing to realize the extent to which they have mitigated their own argument.

 

The Islamist problem is not a major problem. It is simply the opportunity for the likes of Halliburton to make money on the blood of our soldiers.

I don't know, Midas. In 9:29, above, this tax is not unlike the tithes that Catholics and Mormons pay today - for their guarantee of allowance to Heaven. And in 9:5, Mohammad is not simply telling them to "kill the idolators... until [they] submit themselves to Islam" - they can pay the tax (tithe) and be free.

This doesn't necessarily support either position between you and Danr - America is making war on Islam (and has been for years) as much (though not in the same manner) as fundamentalists.

To be honest, I don't think you really have a solid argument (either of you two). On the one hand, Midas is not making points - just playing off emotion to make people agree with him, and on the other, Danr is supporting his own points with the disclaimer that he is just as ignorant as Midas. At this point, both sides are just null and void; neither of you can claim to know about what really is going on in the big picture. All you can do (all anybody can do in this forum) is cite specific examples of a group of Islamic-believing people who have chosen to interpret their religious text in a highly radicalized way. This is not unlike fundamental Christians, who, though the Bible is highly regarded to teach tolerance and love and peace, interpret it as a justifcation to kill, "humiliate", or be intolerant of non-Christians.

Forget all of the passages I listed on post #1. Let's say ALL of these passages are not understood by people that can read and formulate sentences.

To me...words don't mean much. I judge people by their actions. Can you honestly say that islamic people are peaceful? Maybe all of those people are just not "understood" by the civilized world.

2/2/06: Iraq Baghdad, 19 killed, 11 injured. The bodies of fourteen men, blindfolded and tortured, are discovered. Sectarian violence also claims five other lives in five additional attacks around the country.

2/2/06: Afghanistan Khost, 3 killled, 3 injured. The Taliban send a Fedayeen suicide bomber to kill three Afghan soldiers at a checkpoint.

2/2/06: Thailand Pattani, 1 killed. A 42-year-old wood trader is gunned down by Muslim terrorists.

2/1/06: Iraq Baghdad, 8 killed, 50 injured. A Fedayeen bomber kills eight men waiting for work next to a crowded intersection. At least fifty others are in various states of physical agony from the blast.

2/1/06: Thailand Pattani, 1 killed, Muslims stab a 63-year-old Buddhist man to death as he is working his rubber plantation.

2/1/06: Iraq Baghdad, 8 killed, Sunni insurgents kill at least eight people in four separate terror attacks around the country.

Makes you want to hold hands with these people and "teach the world to sing", doesn't it??

...in reference to muslim clerics that looks at a CNN camera and tell the audience islam is a "peaceful religion" when at the same time, violence (action) in the name of islam are being committed, almost on a daily basis.

You have to wonder why there are so many muslims committing these crimes (action) and its no wonder why they behave in this manner when the Koran is fueling their jihad with words and instructions from the peaceful and loving mohammad.

This one is for you people that trust muslims and think of them as your friend:

Koran 5:51 Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends. They are friends with one another. Whoever of you seeks their friendship shall become one of their number. Allah does not guide the wrong-doers.

Or course, all of these words would NOT be a big deal if muslims denounced their prophet Mohammad and came out by telling the world that mohammad was high on drugs when he wrote this garbage, but they don't!

What do they do? Per the instructions of their beloved Koran, they FOLLOW these words and millions have ACTED upon them!!

I have also stated that are basically four types of muslims:

1.) Those that want to subjugate and kill all infidels
2.) Those that want to subjugate and kill only the Jews (especially Israel)
3.) Those that want nothing to do with 1.) and 2.)
4.) Those that understand the actions of 1.) and 2.) and harbor, support, and protect these animals who willingly carry out 1.) and 2.)

Group #3 better get their act together and demonstrate through ACTION they want nothing to do with groups #1, #2 and #4. In my opinion, the largest group is #4...and there lies the world's problem for years to come! Just look at the recent election in Palastine for Hamas with a 78% voter turn out...these people fall into group #4 just due their recent actions!!
