Well, I feel that if people want to be able to use drugs, they should be able to, since cigarrettes and alcohol are legal. However, if the government made these illegal as well, then I would personally feel as if there is not a problem, as the government would not be such hypocrites then.

I think all drugs are evil and they destroy people. I also feel that countries that have lax drug laws, seem to have less drug users. It's a very precarious situation : ( Drugs destroy so many lives, it's a shame.

I'm not in favor of drugs... the destruction they cause is self evident... but I think the use and possesion should be legal (but heavily regulated) while the sale and distribution should remain illegal. Partly because of the resources wasted treating drug addiction as a crime, rather than a disease.... and partly becuase I believe it to be a privacy issue, what someone does to their own body, to the degree they are endangering nobody but themselves, should be their own business unless they are seeking help. Just like you don't arrest someone drinking too much inside their own home, I don't think you should arrest someone doing the same thing with marijuana. I am still in favor of punishing someone who endangers others while under the influence of drugs, same as lawas already exist prohibiting driving under the influence of alcohol; just expand "under influence" to include any substance, legal or not, that impairs judgement and/or reaction time.

Basically I have a very libertarian view on this issue... I think anybody should basically be able to do whatever they want, as long as they don't endanger others by doing so. I don't think people should be using these drugs, that's my moral opinion (and health opinion), but I don't think it should be a crime to do so, again unless by doing so they endanger others. However I support keeping the sale and distribution either illegal or heavily regulated for the same reason it is a crime to prescribe drugs without a license to do so. Illegal narcotic drugs with legitimate medicinal uses, such as marijuana, I would support being given the status of legal by prescription only.

I thought we already fought a war on drugs. If I remember correctly, the drugs won.

It is impossible to eliminate drug abuse and distribution in the United States and Europe because income from illegal drugs pervades law enforcement, the justice systems, and politics. Since there are so many corrupt high-level individuals, it begs the question whether drugs ought to be legalized. Since influential individuals are apparently receiving drug money, one way or another, is there really any impetus to "solve" the "drug problem"? Pervasive corruption may cause one to conclude that legalization may be the only way to get politicians and lawyers out of the drug distribution equation.

Legalization may create some social problems, but it might reduce social problems in other areas. It would certainly impede the ability of the rich and famous to become richer and more famous on the back of junkies and other losers.

It is impossible to eliminate sin. But it should still be contained. Now perhaps we as a nation need to revisit our policies and rewrite a plan on containing the drug problem.

I grew up in the seventies, and have 'experimented' , sometimes extensively, with several drugs. I became addicted to one of the most powerful, c2h5OH. I was able to quit 13 years ago, but it wasn't easy. Of course, this extremely powerful drug is alcohol.

You are right of course, and it's the one drug that will not even come up for serious consideration, when there is the possibility of doing away with the problem. Wonder why that could be? You don't suppose someone like KENN...naw, that isn't possible. He's too streight laced and up front to be like that, now isn't he?

O.K. set them up again, I've got a couple of bridges to cross on the way home.:goof:

i am for the legalization of pot and hash and cocaine and ketamine. Cocaine isn't addictive if you're careful. I'm young and i have friends. I know the effects of drugs.

The government could tax the living heck out of them, and could make a premium over anything like seen yet in america. George bush's economy is a J O K E.

However, Acid and Methamphetamine should be killer fought.

You can talk all you want about these new and modern drugs and their effects, but none of them holds a candle to the likes of mescaline in a bottle with a worm, or a good shot of peyote or opentia. Now these are the real thing and no one is even mentioning them as drugs. Talk about hallucinaations...wow!
Don't knock it if you haven't tried it!:kewl:
