I saw Bush on the News Hour tonight and I must admit he is a likeable guy. By the end of the interview I felt as if I liked the guy. He is a top notch politician. I wonder if his policies would fly without the charisma. What do you think?
Doubt any politican's policies would go over well in the absense of charisma. Part of being able to sell your ideas is the ability to sell yourself. If nobody likes you they are less likely to want to listed to what you have to say... that shouldn't be a very shocking revalation, lol, whether you're a politican or a member of any other profession where you have to deal directly with the public.
I admit to only liking Laura Bush, she is a remarkably warm and caring person, and it is very evident when you see her. His daughters, Jenna and Barbara have a great sense of humour, and despite the press reporting on their teenage escapades, I think they are both very normal young ladies that are bright.
Laura is also a good judge of character, thats why she married "W". Their children are are a reflection of their parents also... excluding "free will".
I voted for Bush, so I'm not coming at this from any particular political point of view, but I just don't see an ounce of charisma in the man. All politicians at this level are well coached and debriefed after every speech and public appearance so they can continuously improve. I imagine it's a lot like attending acting school, or belonging to Toastmasters, but more intense. George really improved since he was a presidential candidate, and can now read speeches, conduct interviews, remember his lines, and get all of the inflections in the right places. In the present mass media pop star culture, that seems to be all it takes.
I just felt like I could talk to the guy and feel comfortable. He seems like a normal guy you could sit around and talk to. He puts you at easy.
