I am beginning to worry about Iran. The old Ayatollahs are hostile and difficult, but this new President may be insane. This guy puts this whole Iran nuclear issue into perspective. For decades, we always woriied that one of the old Soviet Premiers would go off the deep end. All the bellicose talk and threats. Then there are the loopy Chinese dictators. Will one of them fall of the table so to speak? More recently, a lot of military analysts started worrying about the odd nutcase from a third-world country. Would one of these minor countries torch-off a big one? Well, has the messiah of nuclear darkness finally arrived? This new Iranian President is clearly unhinged. Read this. Iran's president questions Holocaust Thu Dec 8, 2005 12:12 PM ET, By Paul Hughes TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday expressed doubt that the Holocaust occurred and suggested Israel be moved to Europe. His comments, reported by Iran's official IRNA news agency from a news conference he gave in the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca, follow his call in October for Israel to be "wiped off the map", which sparked widespread international condemnation. "Some European countries insist on saying that Hitler killed millions of innocent Jews in furnaces and they insist on it to the extent that if anyone proves something contrary to that they condemn that person and throw them in jail," IRNA quoted Ahmadinejad as saying. "Although we don't accept this claim, if we suppose it is true, our question for the Europeans is: is the killing of innocent Jewish people by Hitler the reason for their support to the occupiers of Jerusalem?" he said. "If the Europeans are honest they should give some of their provinces in Europe -- like in Germany, Austria or other countries -- to the Zionists and the Zionists can establish their state in Europe. You offer part of Europe and we will support it." Historians say six million Jews were killed in the Nazi Holocaust. Ahmadinejad's remarks drew swift rebukes from Israel and Washington. Raanan Gissin, a spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, said in Tel Aviv that Ahmadinejad was voicing "the consensus that exists in many circles in the Arab world that the Jewish people ... do not have the right to establish a Jewish, democratic state in their ancestral homeland". "Just to remind Mr. Ahmadinejad, we've been here long before his ancestors were here," Gissin said. "Therefore, we have a birthright to be here in the land of our forefathers and to live here. Thank God we have the capability to deter and to prevent such a statement from becoming a reality." White House spokesman Scott McClellan said: "It just further underscores our concerns about the regime in Iran and it's all the more reason why it's so important that the regime not have the ability to develop nuclear weapons." ONCE ALLIES Religious hardliners in Iran do not publicly deny the Holocaust occurred but say its scale has been exaggerated to justify the creation of Israel and continued Western support for it. Little talked about fact is that there were plenty of jews still living in the middle east and what is considered Israel today before, during and after World War II and have been there for thousands of years, including Persia/Iran. Of course little is said how much of the "palestines today came from Egypt and Turkey and are for the most part newcomers to that area. They took over Jordan, they took over the beloved Christian/Phoenician Lebanon and now they want to completely take over Israel.
Then there is the president of Belarus claiming that it is Sweden's fault that Belarus is in such bad economic shape, claiming they modelled their economy on Swedens  There is no doubt, this new nut in Teheran is out there, but there are nut cases in power in North Korea, Belarus, Libya, Cuba, Turkmenistan etc.
Funny how the radicals and incompetents tend to get power. Guess regular happy folk are just to busy living life to get messed up with messing up everyone else's life.
I agree more with the incompetents. Especially now when we have so many children of political leaders running and obtaining office not on merit but by political machinery.
Sounds like you see our political system better than most Americans do. "Centrist" appears to no longer be a virtue in American politics.
This is what happens when a terrorist heads a country with nuclear capabilities. Arrgh, no smilies of an explosion. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: Someone better call in Pat Robertson.
I think that depends on how you define a "centrist". In the scheme of American politics, Joe Lieberman and George Bush are centrists, whereas Edward Kennedy and Ronnie Lott are not. Republican centrists are doing pretty well, whereas Democrat centrists are currently out of the Party loop.
Andy "now when we have so many children of political leaders running and obtaining office not on merit but by political machinery" you talkin about dubaua or little kimmy???
W is not a centrist, he is extreme on the liberal side in spending and extreme on the conservative side in his mindless following of the military industrial complex. The worst of both worlds!
For me George Bush is a laid back liberal who happened to become a governor for his father told him to and became a president for his father pushed him to.
Obviously he listens to Pops, but not Moms, she always told him to chew his food before he swallowed it, but he didn't listen to the indominatable Barbara Bush, and swallowed before chewing and choked on his pretzel.
There are so many around the nation from both parties. Even Jesse Jackson has a son in public office.
That Iranian dude is either an idiot or a genius. No in between there. Either way it makes sense to be concerned
Another fine example from the "religion of peace". Gotta love those peaceful muslims...they contribute so much to the world.
The Idiot is at it again. This time he is denying that the Holocaust ever happened. I think he is unhinged and dangerous. http://today.reuters.com/news/newsa...427002_RTRUKOC_0_US-IRAN-HOLOCAUST.xml&rpc=22
All of those muslim people are dangerous. You never know if they are the fanatic kind or the peaceful kind(is there a difference?). I just stay away from all of them.
