Congressman Murtha (D-PA) said that the generals that he spoke with were not telling Bush how bad it is in Iraq because they are afraid too.
They commented on this on the McLaughlin group on Fri night (it is a PBS show). Tony Blakely (a proBush con) called these generals COWARDS because they are not giving Bush their honest appraisal of the situation.
What do you think are these generals cowards?

If you are afraid to tell the truth, I think you are a coward.

well, I'm not sure what the gist of all this is,

but I have met quite a few generals (from Brigadier through Lieutenant.) For the most part they are all Type A personalities, and well i've never met nor heard of too many generals in U.S. history that have ever been cowards. (Possible exception of Horatio Gates).

I also don't believe there is any kind of shyness that would keep them from telling it like it is, other than the fact that i've heard them ask for more arms, men, equipment and money on the news every day since the war started. Maybe GW has chosen not to listen.

Thinks... ( a congressman with a bulletproof briefcase, 1 secret service agent, and 10 aides all walking in front of him, calling anyone a coward) .. blah :)

Don't believe everything you see on TV. Just more jealous politicians trying to stir things up. BTW, I have a ton of oceanfront property to sell.

I don't think they're cowards. I think they're very Career Oriented, and deeply concerned about saying what their boss's want to hear if that's really what Tom Blakely said. I think Senator Murtha alluded to the instance when the (Jr) Battalion level commanders testified in anonymity about he need for MORE troops to maintain control of the situation instead of bouncing around putting out fires, etc.

This need for more troops is being highlighted now by the recent kidnapping of the peace activists. We can't find them...

To be honest, I really do not want any politicans view point right now for this war for survial has become a political game for to many. As for any talking head on TV. If they do not have a story, they have to make up one or they will have dead air. I agree with glaciermi that the military has been upfront with Iraq since day one for we have heard the military asking for more boots on the ground from the begining, etc...

I'm not so sure bones, as it may be they aren't really looking all that hard for them. To be quite honest, I wouldn't put myself or someone in my charge in the line of danger to find these bleeding hearts.
I'm sure they were told to stay clear, now maybe the other sob-sisters will pay attention. The only thing I'm sorry about is that it wasn't four of the ABC, NBC or CBS reporters
