Well the US is the big guy in the world but how do u think we'd do in a war against everybody else. I doubt Canada and Mexico would fight but what about Russia, and the Chinese population and all?

Although the fear of an atomic war has largely passed, the fact remains that enough atomic weapons remain to destroy the world several times over. All we need is for someone to accidentally, or on purpose, push the button.

The United States is already far over-extended throughout the world. A "war" with us against the rest of the world would be a disaster for us. We would have to have allies if we hoped to win.

China has an ever-growing navy. North Korea is ruled by a madman. The Middle East hates us. Russia remains the largest country in the world, and has nuclear weapons. Terrorists throughout the world may one day have nuclear weapons.

    Scary times.

A larger war is the last thing we need.

    :) :)

Also keep in mind that since the early 90's, after our first action in the sandbox, Russia and China have been getting more and more chummy.

They signed a strategic agreement that in the event either of them gets into a war with the US, the other will aid them against US, including missles or troops. So that combination provides a 7 million man army and a HUGE nuclear ICBM arsenal.

Also, Russia and China are moving significant amounts of troops off their common border, this to build trust with each other.

Russia is providing conventional weapons and missle technology to the Chinese, which makes them strategic trading partners. Russia is teetering on bankruptcy, and if China takes Taiwan and the US interferes, Russia has a lot to loose.

Russia and China have signed numerous military and economic agreements that bring them closer than they have ever been.

The nuclear technology that China didn't get from Klinton (if there is any) they will get from Russia.

Add to that while the US has been steadily building the Chinese economy, and thus the Chinese military, the US has also been helping Russia to their feet. Meanwhile, Russia is still developing some impressive weapon systems.

Anyone hear about the high speed torpedo that the Russians have developed? Supposedly travels at speeds of over 200 knots (it releases a gas at the nose, so the torpedo travels in a type of gas bubble underwater. the gas prevents the friction and resistance that contact with water typically causes, thus the faster speeds) and we have nothing to counter it. Good-bye carrier battle groups. They supposedly have also made huge leaps in submarine technology. They have also continued to improve their nuclear missle technology, all while the US was working to help save their economy.

The current "commander-in-cheif" okayed moving the facility that makes our "smart bombs" guidance systems to China. So even our smart bombs guidance devices are being manufactured in China.

When it is all said and done, the greed and corruption of the American political system will have destroyed the USA by building up our enemies and their capabilities. This time, we won't have an industrial base to supply war materiel like in WWII.

It was a good run, but when American politicians started putting campaign money above what is best for the nation, we became doomed as a nation.
