Just curious how many other here are of a "preparedness" mindset. I hate to use the word "survivalist" because most that take that monicker seem to be paranoid schitzo'ed to a freakish level. After the 9-11 attacks, I had some revelations. The fact that the president is leaving the southern border wide open makes me realize that Osama Bin Laden could take US anytime he wants. When Homeland Security quietly released the info that AQ probably has between 7 and 12 "suitcase nukes" in this country right now, made my eyes open a little more. Anybody else trying to get prepared for possibilities? What are your preps? Or should I say, what level are your preps?
I have not been getting prepaired as yet. From what I have seen the problem with China, AL-Quiada, and the EU shows me that the Biblical prophecies are coming to pass very quickly. And the Bible prophecies say is that NOT ONE NATION WILL STAND WITH ISRAEL. This to me implies that the U.S. will be wiped out or that the U.S. will weaken and cave into world pressure.
Every major power in the world is laid out in end time prophecies. All but the US. I think either the church will be raptured out of this world, and thus there is no political pressure to support Israel, or the US is kaput as a super power and economic powerhouse. I also think that after the rapture, the US will collapse. All of a sudden, those 60 million plus taxpayers will be gone. I think our out of control government will keep spending debt until some significant event causes a collapse. Or, all the jobs are moved to China, the world dumps the Federal Reserve Note as their reserve currency in favor of the Euro, which they are already starting to do, and without an industrial base, the US may not ever recover, so that leaves US equivalent to a country like Mexico or Venezuela. Then there is Ezekiel 39:6. Whatever happens, it will be a thrill to watch. For centuries people have read the prophecies and wondered how it could all come about. We get to see it. It is an exciting time to be alive.
... if the end of the world comes around - who will be left to mint the commemorative collector's edition coin sets?! ... I smell a money venture.
I can't believe our southern border situation. The border needs to be slammed shut, and troops put there to guard it. It may already be too late.
Wow.... this is a morbid thread.... I live about 20 miles from a Nuclear Power Station and I just assume that if someone wants to blow it up, why bother being prepared. I can't stop it from happening myself.... Anyways, in response to this whole End Times thing, I respect others' religions, but I respectfully choose not to believe in such a far out idea as is spelled out in the Bible. ~AJ
I would have to ass-u-me that DHS has some type of anti aircraft measures at our nuke plants. But then again, the southern border goes unguarded and wide open. INS says that 1 in 10 illegals caught coming across the southern border are of Middle Eastern descent. That's comforting, isn't it. Good ol' W. You are lucky, you know that you won't have to live through the aftermath of such an attack, so preparations are not a major consideration for you.
Well this may surprise you but China has capabilities that our anti aircraft and anti missile stuff can't get read here it's from the washington times
I was thinking along the lines of preventing a terrorist attack via the air. When we go to war with China, they will be lobbing medium range nuclear tipped missles from the Bahamas all day long. We don't have anything that can stop taht. Hopefully, they will just take out DC and our government, but you never know. One thing is for sure; China has been making preparations for a conflict with US, and they have made no secret of that fact. We have not been making preparations for conflict with China. But the article linked above shows just how real the possibility is. I just hope that we have some missles with Bejing as their primary target. Personally, I think our threat to defend Taiwan is hot air. I don't think any politician has the backbone to get into a war with China. I do think we need to sell Taiwan some nukes so they can take care of themselves. YMMV.
If you want to get into prophecy, look at how Iran and China are buddying up. Revelations mentions how the "Kings of the East" move against Israel, and now it is not hard to understand why. Iran is supplying China with HUGE amounts of oil, and China is building us MASSIVE strategic reserves of oil. Iran is developing nuclear weapons, and have publicly stated that when they get them, they will hit Israel. So Israel will either attack first, or they will react with nukes. Iran, Russia, and China are big trading partners. So when Iran and Israel start swapping nukes, I would bet Russia or China will want to act on behalf of Iran or counter US involvement on Israel's side. The US invaded Iraq because Iraq "violated UN resolutions"(won't get into that). Israel has violated over 200 UN resolutions with regard to the Palestinians. It is not hard to see how Russia can say that they are going into Israel to "enforce UN resolutions"; if the US did that in Iraq, without UN approval, what is stopping Russia from doing the same thing? Except that UN will give Russia the go ahead. Of course we know, they get wiped out when they do. But it is very easy to see the scenario developing. Scriptures say "perilous times like never before". "Lafayette, we is here" It is an exciting time to be alive.
How prepared? How prepared can you be for a nuclear war? I think i'd rather be as near to the bomb as possible, that way a few seconds and it's over and that's my ticket outta here. You have to laugh at these politicians that have these bunkers to go and live in incase of an atomic attack. So how long are they gonna have to stay in these bunkers? The rest of their lives? They'd probably run out of food first and starve to death, or failing that they'd die of sheer boredom from being entombed. Since alot of the nuclear bunkers are supposedly underneath buildings, well if the building collapses on top they won't be able to get out. And if they did get out they'd turn into mutants of some sort and die horrible deaths. When you have militant religious fundamentalists willing to die for thier religion (regardless of which religion this is) then the world's a scary place to be. I don't like fundamentalists of anything, much.
I think total nuclear war is the smallest potential. What if it was a limited attack, just on Washington DC, NYC, LA, Boston and enough major cities to just knock out our government and economy? Even if the Ruskies nuked the major cities, that still leaves a lot of population. Unless you live in a major city like NYC, you cannot be assured of being taken in the initial blast. Better a little preparation now, than a lot of regret later. Everyone has their own comfort levels, especially when it comes to watching their families starve, or fall victim to violence. I think the more likely potential is a collapse of our economy. China and Japan are the largest holders of American Debt. I don't like having foreign nations owning this nation. If the world decides to dump the Federal Reserve Note as it's reserve currency, which they are starting to do, that will make our money worthless, and will make a 3rd world nation of US. If they dump the FRN slowly, it may not be so bad. China could take US out without firing a shot. The majority party (whoever it is) is on a spending spree and is currently achieving record levels of debt. Manufacturing jobs are being exported at an alarming rate; watch Lou Dobbs some day. My company just told us we were going to start outsourcing manufacturing. There is not going to be anyone left to pay taxes. Those that manage to keep a job, will have to be taxed in an amount that makes it prohibitive to work. Surely cannot tax imports, that is the way the founding fathers meant for the nation to be funded. In my area, we are sitting on a major geographical fault, that is said to be way overdue. When that hits, this area will be shut down. There has been very little planning by the state and local governments to prevent total destruction. Luckily, an earthquake is somewhat regional, but I still want to be as prepared as possible so I am not dependent on government or other. Then, what if there is an petroleum crisis? That effects every aspect of our lives; food, medicine, clothing, energy. If you bought it at a store, it was moved by truck. Trucks need oil to move. Oil is the US "achilles heel",and our most vulnerable point. 80+% of our oil comes in through 4 ports. If Osama dirty nukes those ports, no oil. I'm not willing to die for my "religion", but I am willing to be killed for my Lord. My Lord does not require that I kill others. Nice generalization though, even though it was very ignorant. Tough times coming, the writing is on the wall. Even without scripture prophecy, it is not hard to see that we are in a downward spiral. When we have a snow storm headed our way (I mean 2 inches of snow) people flock to the stores and strip the shelves bare because they don't have any preps. They just assume the store will always be there. I heard that after 9-11, it was the same thing around here. In tough times, people like me will be expected to take care of the ignorant who have no preps and do not have enough food to last past a week or a few days. There will be some that beg for food, there will be many that will prefer to steal what others have. That is why I have a stockpile of ammo. At the very least, I do not have to worry over it.
If the writing is already on the wall, stop adding new chapters. National Debt: last I checked over 70% of our debt is comprised of internal lenders, ie. the obnoxiously wealthy. That fact has MUCH more upside potential to damage our economy than the remaining 30% owed to foreign investors. After all, you aren't paying your debts back in yen - it's good old USD, and where else you gunna spend it? Tying that to 'owning this nation' isn't ever accurate in theory. It just isn't. You're mixing your investment, business, and real estate sectors across the board. Oil: If we can't purchase oil imported from the middle east, are we damaged? yep. Guess who else is damaged? the middle east - because we won't be buying oil we can't import, because of damaged ports... As far as a downward spiral - I think fear is doing a vast majority of that work. Where does it stop? At what point do fears become irrational, because things can happen in theory... Manufacturing: there's no way around it. the US can't compete in the manufacturing market at this point in time. Of course, if the value of the dollar drops as significantly as you think it will, that will drastically change.
If we cannot buy it, China will. Bibilical prophecies written thousands of years ago state that final wars will be fought over "black gold". Who knows exactly how that could come to pass? There will always be a customer for the Middle East oil. Be it China and their 10% growth per year, or Europe. That is similar to people saying that "China really isn't building up their military to invade Taiway because if we defend Taiwan like we pledged to, the US will get into it and China will not want to lose their biggest customer". The idea that China will not want to butt heads with US because we buy goods from them is a poor reassurance. Hard times coming, you'll see.
