"Cash for Clunkers"

I'm surprised no one has brought up this brilliant piece of work from the Obama administration. $1 billion...now $3 billion given to help people uy new cars & go deeper into debt. Wonder how many more imports are getting sold rather than domestics?
If you think Obama can manage a trillion dollar health program just take a look at what havoc he has wrecked with a simple little billion dollar program!!

 

Yep. Its a clunker of a program. And yet the majority of conservatives voted for it too. So everyone should take the heat.

 

I thought it was so successful that they had to add more money to it. This was one of the better parts of the stimulus.

 

Yea so they took money from the solar power program to keep funding it. There goes that crap. And its back to running on foreign oil. Very successful for who? Car dealers? Banks?

 

Scrambling at the last minute, searching for areas to ciphon money from in order to prop up a poorly thought out handout program isn't my definition of a success. $3 billion dollars to "help" people buy new cars? Is everyone now entitled to have a brand new $20k car in their driveway? What message does this send? Is this trully the cure to what ails us? How much does this cost each of us? Could the money have been better spent elsewhere?

 

It sure could have.

 

Remember who's running the car industry and banking industry now. The Federal government. So, in essence, President Obama is saying, "here's some cash. Borrow some more of my money and buy one of my cars." That arrangement would be illegal if done by private companies.

No link that I know of. I read it in the Review-Journal. A morning paper here in Vegas. Yes, I actually had to open my front door and walk down my driveway to get the news.

 

I guess I am in the minority here. I am all for the program.

It would have been better used as part of the stimulus plan tho, and should be limited to American made cars and trucks.

As a member of a Ford retiree family, I get what they call the Z plan.....I can buy at actual factory cost....no gimmick, no games, a set in stone price. I recently sold my old 4WD Blazer and bought, ........a Nissan Xterra....not a Ford. Even with the discount, the Ford was not an attractive buy.

I have since changed my mind and as soon as I lose the negative equity on the Nissan, I will go Ford. I like how they avoided the bailout.

 

I happen to agree with Jack about it been for American cars, we have the same programe here and I wish that was just for cars produced in the UK

BO goes and tells one audience that he is all for single payer health care, then goes to another audience and says " for those of you who think this is a single payer trojan horse, you are wrong "

BO tells one place his plan will kill private insurance, yet tells another group you can keep your private insurance. Credibility? Again......hmmmmmmm.

I find the O supporters who are presented with fact after fact after fact of BO lying thru his teeth, yet still support, quote and worship him to be the ones lacking any credibility.

How much punishment and how many B itch slaps are you going to accept before you stand up and say the emperor has no clothes? This guy is freakin jiving us ???? We believe this carp? We have been told this garbage and we bought it?

Shame on us.
