Oklahoma Republicans Ready To Blame The Recession On 'Debauchery' http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/30/oklahoma-republicans-read_n_223074.html They just get crazier and crazier!
Now when I read the title of the thread I sort of went what the !! over here wingnuts is a nother way of saying EARS specialy large ones LOL so I had images of them blaming large ears for the recession, not realy sure which is worse LOL
So are you saying that all the debauchery has helped fight the recession? Or that it has absolutely no affect? I always thought all the wingnuts were out in California. Where all the libs have come to congregate and send true 'gems' to our U.S. Congress. Where same sex marriage is rioted over and all the gays can be happy. Where the Constitution can be trampled on over what some liberal scumbag wants for their town. Yeah, they're so hip out there. And the state of things is so great. The state coffers are overflowing with money, milk and honey and their economy is so outstanding! Oh wait. Damn! That's not the case at all. The state is a complete disaster with the worst financial crisis and unemployment in the nation! Ah. That's all pure coincidence though. No worries. Those crazy Oklahoma republicans anyway. What were they thinking!?
Vess I don't think a lot of Libs even want anything to do with the way California is run. I know I'm not planning on moving there anytime soon. Perhaps California and Oklahoma should merge? Now THAT would be interesting.
Really? The new climate bill mandates CA rules ( yes, nationwide )for auto emmisions, carbon usage and home efficiency standards. Otherwise, I have not read th complete bill or the link provided here. Just checkinjg in before my Friday night poker game. Ante tonight is a generic GSA CC dollar, 5 of us. The winner will cash in. Wish me luck.
Vess hate to say this bud, CA has a supposed GOP Governor and look at his failures. I think the Govenator has failed miserably. He never led, he followed polls and popularity contests, not a smart way to govern. I travel to CA about 5-6 times a year both for coinshows and work......trust me, it is not a business friendly envionrment.
He's as republican as McCain was. The title is meaningless. That state's been deep blue since Reagan. I'd say they win the prize for F'ing up what should be one of our most prosperous states. With the population and tax base they have, all the rich and big business that reside there, all the western ports, industry, farming, parks, tourism, vast land area, etc, etc... They have it all. There's no way to achieve more tax revenue sources than they have short of making people slaves, and they are the worst off in the nation. How does that happen? It simply doesn't make good sense. Sorry for getting off topic. Just thought it was interesting that the most free-spirited, liberal, care free, pro-gay state in the union also happens to be the worse off. Is there anything to it? Maybe not. Everyone will have their own opinions.
I don't know. How does being married or having a good credit rating make you less of an insurance risk? Nobody's saying the gays are primarily responsible for everything. To me it would appear that they are blaming our culture as a whole. As in care free, anything goes, no responsibility, everybody has to get their way. Whatever's to blame, our current results are obvious.
Actually Vess I'm enjoying your "off topic" views of California and this coming from a Lib. As I stated I have no desire to live in California. I've been there once - with Jack of all people. The original post and the comments about California point out two VERY GLARING points to me. Ready for it y'all? NOT all Conservatives are the same. NOT all Liberals are the same. I think most of us here know that. Hell, we agree on occasion. That in mind is California run by a Republican governor? Yes but it is BEYOND Liberal. Not only that I believe it has been for a long time. It's getting them no place fast. Not all Liberals agree with "ultra Liberalism". Many of us actually think. Same could be said for Conservatives and the Resolution in Oklahoma. Do I think ALL Conservatives think this way. Hell no and I certainly hope not. It's a call for theocracy and I do not agree with theocracy ESPECIALLY in this nation. If may behoove some to jump on the bandwagon in Oklahoma but to the average conservative it makes no more sense than jumping on the socialist bandwagon. At least I hope so. Such extremes can only accomplish one thing. Driving the country further apart from itself. We need more "middle of the roaders" as it were. Conservative Liberals and Liberal Conservatives. In essence a third party that is stronger. I still see the Republican party destroying itself. I have stated in the past I DON'T want this to happen. We need the Republican party as a nation. I STRONGLY believe we need at least one other strong party as well (besides the Dems). As we type here and snipe at one another what do we really accomplish as a whole? Not much. With a two party system we never will. I lean more and more toward the middle believe it or not. I just want to be able to vote for Indepenents that actually have a chance of winning.
Wow great substance. The gays are not primarily responsible. Just somewhat? What an asinine statement. Your excuse for them sounds like agreement.
Here is something I totally disagree with living in one of the THREE counties in the entire state of Indiana that has had emissiions programs for years. For years I have said relax the standards but make EVERYONE do it. Overall, I believe that would clean up the air a lot more than just making "select" areas run cleaner because they happen to live in industrial areas. I'm for cleaner air but the system hasn't been to "fair" in this neck of the woods. As I type I have a van sitting in my driveway with no plates because it won't pass. It runs fine but not worth pumping money into to meet emissions. I'll sell it as scrap most likely. Bringing in California laws will not help it will hurt. Too many vehicles that people need to go about their daily lives will be sidelined. Spending the money to fix them or buy new ones is not an option everyone can afford.
Good Dan, you mentioned that on our drive to CA last year. By the way, they have tripled tha amount of windmills Start reading bits of the bill once in a while, it is online, but way to big a read more than a few pages a day. Try the 300 page amendment dropped in at 3:00 am the day of the vote by the most radical of liberals..... Even home appliances must be up to CA standards in order to get a " permit" to sell your house, window leaks, plumbing leaks, etc etc.....no more "fixer uppers" or handyman specials.....EVERY house must meet 2009 CA standards before it can hit the market. PERMITS will be issued by the government so you can sell YOUR house. This is just a small part. Do you think factories are going to jump thru these hoops ?? Or, will they move jobs overseas? Are the energy companys going to absorb these costs? Or, pass them on to the consumer? This is nothing but the biggest tax hike in Americas history. Yep, even on 95% of Americans....
CA I live here because my extended family does. CA use to be like any other state. With the great influx of population and being a port and Military comlex state jobs were very abundent. People then looked at eating and providing. Politics were for politicians. We let that go unnoticed for decades. Corruption and the advent of a Bureaucracy that is only exceeded by the Feds make living here a nightmare for seniors as well as those who try to comply with laws that were made to shield and cover the very people who wrote them. That is our fault as well as the Federal problem. No one thinks the well can go dry, just raise the sales or gas tax ! Soon they will have to deal with the oil industry to get out of debt. The longer they wait the less leverage they have. The portfolio of the large oil companies cover every type of energy that is out there. They will get their share. Oil shall be with us for a generation , not a decade . Evolution could make it sooner but politics will extend the process. These are my thoughts based on years of being in CA and working with and around alternative energy for mosly land based vehicles. Pep
