I listened to Rush the other day and he spent 2 hours trashing Jeb, Mitt and those guys. What is up with the hating? This party is about to split into 2 different parties.
So be it. I think beliefs that used to be a given are viewed as being "hard right" now and people like McCain are considered to be the moderate norm of republicans by some. A year before McCain was nominated, Rush was giving him plenty of criticism and said "he hoped they wouldn't make the mistake of going with McCain but that they probably would." Maybe after the dems are in control of this mess long enough and turn it into a bigger mess, they'll be looking to throw an election next time around?? Who knows? Maybe there will come a day when 50% of the people realize their parties have left them and will finally vote independent out of anger? If people had two brain cells to click together, they would see the campaigns for the smoke screens they are, pitting one against the other as the only option and want to buck that trend. Until then, we get George Bush's and Obamas. Enjoy!
Good thread Dan. I think both parties are screwed up. The Dems have been hijacked by the far left loonies and the Repos have forgotten this is a conservative party. About 2-3 years ago, I think before the '06 midterms, I switched to Indy. I did not like the Dubai ports fiasco, the Harriet Meyers supreme appointment and ( a joke now ) W's overspending and deficits, both done 4X by the current POTUS. Both partys want amnesty, which I am also against. As we both know here in Phoenix, McCain is up for reelection. You probably like him more than I do, I'm hoping he loses the primary or switches partys before then, ala Spector. The left needs a true working mans Democrat, my family up in Detroit are starting to wake up and they feel blindsided. The Repos need a good conservative and true Goldwater/Reagan values, not this mishy mushy moderate crap. Why cannot we have a strong national defense, pro earth, low tax, small government and fiscally smart candidate? I'd vote for that person in a minute, no matter the party affiliation, color, sex or creed.
My favorite Dem in recent memory, someone I truly admire is Zel Miller. I have his book, " A National Party no More ". Now thats a Democrat I could get behind. I will loan you the book anyone if you promise to return it. I'd also consider voting for James Carville, I love that guy. I am dead serious. I cannot think of any Repo that excites me, YET.
Except Palin. You can bash her looks, her family and her locale, but you cannot bash her track record fiscally and her accomplishments as executive officer of her state. No personal attacks, the woman is a conservative in every way. With some polish and some experience, she could lead us back to a form of Reaganism and conservatism not seen in decades.
Zell Miller is a fine man and knows what America needs. James Carville appears to be somewhat less of a caring soul. Republican or Democrat they have fallen in to the pit of political osmosis. Once you learn to play the game, the fortunes to be made are stagering. An independent group of like minded people could change what is happening. Both parties are corrupt beyond redemption. We need citizen politicians that sit no longer then two terms. We are a demcratic republic . Our success is based on our Delaration of independence and The Constitution. No word parsing . Just what is there and maybe a new amendment or two. Pep
I just want an honest fiscal conservative...one that doesnt push religion. One that stays out of my personal life, doesnt think government should be like my mom and dad and tell me what I can and cant do as long as I am not hurting anyone around me... In social matters, mostly hands off. I liked Ron Paul but there you go.
That is finger pointing at the good ole boys club ! My father was born a democrat and thought FDR sat on a throne. We always talk about good and bad Presidents, but what about the Number xxx congress.Congress has the power with a like minded President. We should have the power all the time but are accepting candidates that are the same ole boys. Our country , our ball, and if there is good or bad we should be watching them not the other way around. Pep
Don't get too excited, Dan. Look how weak the Dems looked during the Reagan/Bush years. And then Billy Bob swept into office. Heck, look at how much disarray the Dems were in when they couldn't even beat GWB in 2004. At that point who would have thought a black man from the Chicago machine would sweep into office? Things can turn in the blink of an eye. You might want to worry more about the strife between Obama and the ultra liberal freak shows in the party...like Madame Pelosi. This is not the end of the Republicans. lol
Pelosi screwed up so bad she had to flee the country. She has really opened a can of worms. Oh well. I agree , all is not lost. It comes and it goes.
I tend to agree with you AJ but not really with your terminology. If you're going to label the far left as loonies then include the far right as well. Loonies live on both sides of the fence to me. I DO believe the Republican party has self destructed and have stated same before. I've also stated that they need to basically pull their heads from their butts and start doing something about it. To me what is really killing the Repos is the "attack mode". As in attack anything the Democrats say. Now, I'm not totally blind the Dems do it too and both parties have for too long. It IS all about control. The loser in the long run is the "average" American. Now, in a different thread you had mentioned how many Repos are leaning Independent. Yup, I can see it and have no problem with a bunch of Dems doing the same to build a stronger THIRD party. This country needs a stronger third party or more. If one votes Independent, knowing it is really nothing more than a "protest" vote, the point is basically moot. I know, I've done it before. If one can vote Independent and actually have a chance it changes things a lot. As it stands now people are voting because they are "more afraid" of the other candidate and what he/she may do. We basically don't trust any of them. More parties, more choices, more control in the hands of the people. I'd like to see that before I die.
Seems like a lot of talk about Pelosi and company, what about Mitt and Jeb and those guys? Are they coming back or are they permanently marginalized? Who is really in charge of the Republican party? who in the Republican party is even a serious person (Steele? Limbaugh?). It seems like the serious people in the party (Mitt and Jeb) are not even welcome.
dan we want nothing else to do with the bushes......w fooked us badly. let me explain. no jeb. i cannot capitolise, my shift key is broken, so i'll say it agin, no jeb w ....question mark......defense he was strong, resolute and firm with the constitution and what it stands for. what we have left , the romney, the jindal, the steel gang, is that they bend their belief's to gain points in the polls. f that, we need a person to stand on principle. as a .....conservative who has left the party of the repos....... all of our heros and leaders are has beens.........gingrich, reagan, buchanan. limbaugh and hannity are paid lapdogs, pure b i t c h e s in my opinion, weak salesmen who have comprimised the values we expect to see. say anything for money. f them with a capitol f. i do not know the future, but i hope to see a conservative party emerge, and i will join with gusto. repos ....question mark.....fook them. they suck bigtime. nothing more than politicians as a fed up american, a strict constitunionalist and a federalist in some term of the word, i refuse to compromise my beliefs, i will go down on principle rather than join the .....if you cant beat them, join them....crowd
pelosi has to go. even you ....if you are intellectually honest......know that she has damaged the dem brand...putting power of the seat and the party before america..... i think she should retire to the botox milf pages of internet porn, she has prostituted the dems long enough. the lady is poison to your party. a hot looker for a lady her age, she should make some cash while she still can.
So...let me see if I have this right.... you do not like her? I am a bit surprised that the right are throwing Mitt under the bus. From an outsider's POV he's the best you got.
Mitt caved in did you see how strongly he opposed mccain in the primarys, only to perform the monica on john mcccain the candidate who captured the nomination...question mark... mitt.......lose the party line and stand up for something danr i liked this guy untill i figured out he is a tool and a puppet. it is very discouraging. just another ...i'll say anything to get elected....... type fook that
Well, it isn't like she is a wannabe or a maybe. She is a visible, powerful current leader in the party. And, the press, while they have shown little stomach for any hard reporting on President Obama, don't seem to fear Pelosi in the same way. She is a weak link for the Dems and a very high ranking one. We have seen the Dems in a position of power before and screw it up bad enough to eventually lead to a 2 term GWB presidency. Both parties suck.
Best of the worst ? I am not sure we even get the best of the worst from either party. They know, and so do you by now, that States Rights have, and are being used by the Federal Goverment. Under the Tenth Amendment they are entitled to only seventeen areas of control that have direct effect on the states. A party ,either that removes your liberty slowly will eventually find no need for states Rights. Kind of like comparing a sticker on a car window . You know what they give you for your money , but not what you pay extra for ,or is just not there. Then try to compare from car to car, or bill to bill by congress. Ear mark to bill by pecetage of spending or by number. This is why we need each other, and not people who sell, away our way of life.We the people are unique, and do not have to answer to the Government, they have many questions to answer from us. If we do it right it will have impact everywhere.
