On 11 September, while Al-Qaeda's planes slammed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the Carlyle Group hosted a conference at a Washington hotel. Among the guests of honour was a valued investor: Shafig bin Laden, brother to Osama. last paragraph http://observer.guardian.co.uk/magazine/story/0,11913,738196,00.html
Level, Thanks for the offer and I am always looking for another good book so thanks for the recommendation. I take the kids to the library at least once a week and I'm sure I can find the book there. I like your arguments here. You actually give me things to think about. I sincerely believe that neither political party is all bad or all good but often get dragged into the partisan nonthinking BS. Keep up the good posts.
Always like to help a friend, so I believe the title of the book which describes what you have written is called "Fools Paradise" and came out during the 'Great Depression of the early 1920's. A very old book.
What does OBL's brother have to do with Al Quieda anyways? OBL has been exiled from his family for many years. Also, it is no secret that Bush 41 is an oil man.
If they hadn't been hit so hard in New Orleans, things might have been different. So what is your point?
OBL receives his portion of the bl money to this day. Some of that money is generated through the Carlyle group.
" There is, however the other side of the story. Bin Laden is a member of a big family. His father's financial inheritance has not been sorted. The brothers agreed to keep many assets of the father and distribute the profits only. Most of the brothers and sisters are observing Muslims and very keen not to "spoil" their income with money which is not theirs. They believe it is their duty to let the owner of any riyal to have it. The only way they guarantee that is by letting bin Laden's share reach him. Some of the brothers and sisters believed it was their religious duty to support this distinguished brother from their own money. While many are very careful not to irritate the royal family, many more do not care and insist on letting the money reach Osama.
