Hey gang, Rlm has passed. March 31st. Don't pile on just because of partisan difference. He was just an American with an opinion. I searched his name today because some of you mentioned his absence. We attended coin shows together, and traveled together to Long Beach, Dallas, and a few ANA shows in previous years. The man was a Lincoln Cent expert. His obituary can be found by searching Richard McQueen, OK city, OK. Rest in peace buddy.
Thanks for the heads up. He could be civil, when no one else was involved in the discussion, but inevitably those discussions would end as someone else got involved.
This is a time when we all look at the big picture. Thank you Clueless, that was very civil. He WAS a good man. Hard headed, yes but a good man.
RLM was one of my best friends on this forum and he will be immeasurably missed. This is truly, truly sad news. I'm at a loss of words to express how great a guy RLM was. Peace eternal, my friend.
Seems like he was a good guy in person, and this site will be lessened by his absence, given it doesn't have many members. Condolences to you who were his friends.
I can't be a hypocrite. I didn't like the guy in life and I won't pretend I like him in death. He had a civil side that he rarely chose to show me or anyone else he disagreed with. But I believe none of us is either the best or the worst thing we ever did. We are an average of the best and worst things we do. On this site, people tend to view people as extremes or absolutes. The best thing I can say about old rimmer is that I never viewed him through his absolutist viewpoints but rather as someone who chose to present himself as something he clearly couldn't have been. Why he chose to become this ideological caricature of a person was only known to him. I will miss our little scuffles. At least rimmer had the capacity to bring facts occasionally unlike so many of you.
Thanks for your dumb ass opinion. You wouldn't know what it looks like to not be a hypocrite so I am unsurprised at your fucked up response. Next time keep it to yourself.
I feel as though this thread should be focused on a memorialization of our fellow forum member and not a place for profanity-laced tirades.
Teddy, can we please just keep this thread civil? If you'd like to curse or get mean, how about doing it in a different thread? Cool?
At a Heritage auction, I was attempting to get Rlm's attention. Kept waving at him. I did not realize that the auctioneer considered those waves as bids, lol When the hammer dropped, I bought a gold coin for like $80,000!!! Most embarrassing moment in my life, they had to roll back video to fix it and I was asked to leave Good times!!!
That's a great story, Jack! I bet you had a lump in your throat when the hammer fell and they announced that you were the high bidder. I'm sure RLM had quite the laugh, too!
