    Oil futures:
There are some sources that predict the price of oil to reach $100 a barrel by this time next year. Just in time for the elections of 2008.

It makes no sense, the market broke 14,000 yesterday, and both oil & gold were also up.

Usually they go in opposite directions.

Keep sending us your oil, which we will pay for with Treasury bonds that will be paid back with greatly depreciated dollars, or maybe never.

    Krasnaya may be right! Here is some other data from another report;

Could this be one of the reasons the UN scientist want us to quit using oil? It would sure put a crimp in the third worlds pocket book if we were to start bidding higher for oil and they couldn't afford to buy. Places like China could rake in more of the profit and be the better off for our switching to ethanol.

Okay, if they invade us, does that mean that they will have to establish a Marshall Plan for the US?
Lets see, subsidies, paid by them.
Military forces: costs paid by them.
Build us new factories: paid by them.
    and all sorts of benefits.

I nearly forgot: $4 trillion in debt, and we just junk the bonds. (Ha, the Japanese and the Chinese lose money, who cares).

Okay, the borders are open, see ya at the Canadian line.

better the babysitter than the policeman.

Except in horror movies, the babysitter usually gets paid, and not killed.

I think it more likely you run into problems with China than Russia. China will continue buy good aircrafts, SU-27 etc from Russia with money they get from you Americans. Russia really not military, but more importantly have economic power. Economic power always prevail in end. USA used to know this, but somehow forgot when time go buy, but rest of world, Russia, China, Brazil, India, Japan learn it. Now USA reduced to only having military power, and in time that too show it not last - think Iraq.

Problem with USA leadership, cannot find who real enemies are. They not Iraq or DPRK, nor Iran. More like your real problems are Pakistan where leaders talk the talk but walk with Islamic fundamentalists support Iraq terror, Al Qaida, invasion of Kashmir. Then I think also enemies at home in Washington city. The people trusted in power there lead country to abyss of ruin financial and political.

Iran talk a lot, not do much. DPRK led by little madman dicktater and blow only smoke. Problem with Pakistan is that leader is walk on wall and not decide what he likes. It only matter of time before he gone, and Karzai in Afghan is gone too. Then you see what happen.

What factories? In Mexico, China? I thought nothing made in USA anymore, except lies from Washington and bunch of bonds of debt become worthless like dollar.

Beside, China have huge rain day fund which more than USA debt to China. You think you pull one off on China, you wrong. Just like think won cold war.

We'll see. Output in 2006 was less than 2005. 2005 was less than 2004. Light crude production is falling rapidly around the world, being replaced by heavy crude production. So while it's true that we are not close to running out of oil, it seems likely that the world isn't capable of producing much more than about 85 million barrels per day. Welcome to peak oil, whether you like it or not.
