I see it's 1952 they were in the First NATOian update. Me thinks that with the physical expansion of certain destabilizing factions, oh nevermind...

Turkey and Greece members of NATO since 1949, USA really twist of arms make them join to have members in Balkan Area as well as Black Sea. Turkey with border of USSR at Armenia get listening post which to spy upon USSR. Also there much interference of ship traffic through Dardanelles strait.

But not easy, especially in 1974 when Turkey and Greece shoot it out over Cyprus, how can be allies, but enemy? Same of France and USA during 2003, when mouth off in USA governments say many bad thing about France.

1952, not 1949. And It wasn't really hard to get either nation in. The Greeks were still smarting from the attempted Communist takeover during the Greek Civil War, and the Turks wanted to prevent the Soviets from fulfilling the ancient Russian desire to seize Constantinople/Istanbul. And being part of NATO helped both nations get considerable American aid to move their militaries and economies forward. The Greeks did a better job of it, but that's another debate.

Also do "good" things like suppress Kurd minorities. Now USA want Turkish Republic for EU, it is Asian country not European! So they own small part of Europe. And the USA sure push military forward, so military for long time rule both countries. Interfere even when civil government in control. Yeah. That good. What good for goose, good for you!
