I have been watching a 20/20 special on tv about a US army hospital in Baghdad. I just felt that I had to say how much I admire and how in awe I am of all of the medical staff that work there. Every day they have to see the results of cowardly attacks. They see things that would have driven me insane and yet they carry on doing their jobs to the best of their abilitys. I don't care how stupid you think the war is (and I do) You have to salute those people and all of the men and women who do their duty and serve their country. God bless them all and keep them strong. John.
medics will always have my respect. sometimes, after unsuccessfully trying to save an american soldier's life, they have to turn around and save the life of the insurgent who killed him. i don't think i would be able to do that. if someone shows up bleeding, they get taken care of no matter who they are.
It is incredibly rough on the hospitals medical staff. Especially when they return to their regular (mundane) day-to-day routine. Divorce rates are well over 80% at times and the Head Shed (Mental health) is booked for appts often months ahead of time, and were not talking about the lower ranking enlisted personnel either. Monthly there are many episodes of alcohol related anger episodes and domestic violence. Self destructive behavior among the troops often peak after tours in a Combat Support Hospital, there are no days off... Definitely a unit I wouldn't want to be a First Sergeant in. You see Superman and Wonderwoman each has a very human side...
I can understand the breakdowns after the horror they have to go through every day One of the surgeons they showed was there with his wife. She is an op room nurse and a very fine one as he put it. But they were on their third deployment!!
Fighting back Fanatical Muslims is not stupid. It would be suicidal not to put a halt to their radical ideologies.
we just had a particularly nasty mortar attack today. i work in a blackhawk/chinook passenger terminal, and all of our passengers braced themselves in the hallway. one of them was a female lieutenant, and it must've been her first experience. she was the most visibly frightened during each explosion. after the rounds stopped coming in we went to red alert, and the big voice came on calling on all our unit medics to report to the clinic. turns out the l.t. was a nurse, and she wanted to be brought over there to see if she could help. i escorted her out there, and she was still pretty shooken up. i had to point out all of the bunkers along the way in case more rounds started coming in. we got there fine, and she went right to work. man...what a mess. i reaffirm my previous statement about my respect for medics. the nurse was obviously scared, but she overcame her fear to answer the call. she was just passing through and had no obligation to leave our terminal to report to the clinic, but she did. and she missed her flight too.
I agree with you that those maniacs should be stopped but there must be a better way rather than feeding the life blood of the US military into the meat grinder that Iraq has become.
I did 5 months at the AF theater hospital in Balad. I am not a medic...I was just facility support...keeping the tents, AC, electricity, water, sewage, O2 ect all together and running. I saw the docs and techs first hand, though. The Docs and Med Techs do an amazing job saving lives in that environment. I think the save rate was around 98% when I was there. They pride themselves on saving you if the choppers get you there alive and a death hits everyone hard. It was a humbling experience seeing those choppers coming all day, every day (both US military and Iraqi civilians, BTW).
Too bad when treat islamic murderors cannot give them gay bomb and make them make love and not war.:whistle:
Honestly, from some of what I have seen over there with the TCN's and LN's, I think someone already has used it on them.
