I based my opinion on a philosophical foundation. You're asking a theoretical question. I assume your line of... ummm.. thinking is that the government should control all use of peyote. Is that correct?
Philosophical. Right. Okay. First of all, humor me and answer the question I posed, Mr. If-it's-Good-for-One-Tribe-it's-Good-For-All. Secondly, my view is that the government should make the purchase, possession and use of peyote illegal for minors, legal for adults. With, of course, the usual qualifiers concerning operating motor vehicles while under the influence, not putting others in danger, and being held responsible for any injury or damage to others or their property which is attributable to your use of the drug. And on this board that makes me a philosopher I guess. Oh and no religious bullish*t one way or the other.
So back to the OP, where are those people whose opposition to marriage equality aka gay marriage is rooted in Biblical authority and values? While the Bible doesn't seem to explicitly condemn same-sex marriage, it doesn't seem terribly supportive either. That's fine. It shouldn't make any difference anyway since marriage in this country is a secular, legal construct, not a religious one. The religious part is optional and can be and often is dispensed with. But what about all those other types of marriage that the Bible explicitly sanctions, even requires in some cases? Come on Biblical marriage supporters, let's talk about these. If you're going to fight to deny on Biblical grounds the right of same-sex couples to marry, shouldn't you be fighting at least as hard for the implementation of the kind(s) of marriage the Bible does call for?
I can't believe that no one on this board is prepared to come the defense of the rules of marriage as they are set out in The Good Book. Turning your back on Bible. What's wrong with you people?
Guess it kinda shoots a hole in that thing you people are forced to believe about how everyone on the right is a bible-thumping zealot, doesn't it? That's okay, it's cute when one of you far left types gets confused because the narrative doesn't play out in reality.
There's no shortage of conservative support for your Bronze Age tribal Holy Book. Stay tuned. What's interesting is that on this board, Christians like you are afraid to weigh in on the topic. Sounds like either you support Biblical marriage but are afraid to say so or you don't and are afraid to say so. I'm sure the baby Jesus is weeping over this.
