No one here talked about murder, rape, robberys, racial hatred to incite death, etc. We're talking about persecution based on thoughts/beliefs.
Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Henry David Theoru, JESUS did not follow bad laws. Isn't Christianity here to free us from bad laws, that was a huge part of the Jesus, Paul thing (I sure I am right/correct on this one).
Danr, Danr, Danr, you are forgetting one very important point. That is you are not in any manner or form Ghandi, Martin L. King, Henry D. Theoru, OR even JESUS. Close but no cigar!
One of the great lessons of Jesus/Paul is do not follow bad laws. Reread Galatians (I know this one better than 1984). It takes guts to stand up for what is right and I admit I OFTEN fall short.
Actually, a law that helps prevent the resurgence of the Nazi party is a pretty good law. I can't really understand why anyone would think that a Nazi revival in Germany would be a good thing, and I'm really bewildered that anyone would make a Nazi-Jesus comparison.
Oh, and here I thought that was also the legacy of Hitler and the nazis. General Thought not pertaining to any posters here: Do neo-nazi's ever consider the greatness Germany would be today if there was no Hitler in the past?
Here’s yet ANOTHER arrest that tramples on the basic right of free speech and expression. How this guy is not German or Austrian and he has NO connection to Germany. He is a UK citizen. His words are 100% legal in the UK (at least for now). He was arrested in Austria! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4446646.stm
Because he apparently violated Austrian law a couple of years ago while being in Austria. What would you think about foreigners who come to, or live in, your country and do something that is against US or state law but legal in the person's country of origin, and get complain about being arrested? Christian
I was under the impression that most countries had the laws on "extradition" just for such cases as this one.
See, but in Britain he won’t face any charges. So I doubt they’ll do that. Also, had it been someone in (say) Iran who was arrested for an equal “crime”, I’m sure Blair would be un uproar and take it to the UN! But none of that here! I remember a few years ago there was this guy who had a Nazi site. He’s an American and he happened to be visiting Denmark. The site was American hosted. The German government found out he was in Denmark and issued an arrest warrant that Denmark complied to it and "extradited" him to Germany! Even though there's no anti free speech laws in Denmark. That guy had no connection in Germany and had never ever set foot in Germany until his arrest! His only “crime” was putting up a web site that Germans can access! Even the Nazis and the East German communists never ever arrested a private US citizen! If anyone wants more info on this I can dig it up.
In case you are referring to Gary Lauck and his "NSDAP-AO", the above is not correct. Yes, there are a few legal "experts" in Germany who claim that virtually anybody who publishes nazi propaganda on the Internet, no matter from which country, could be arrested here because the materal is "accessible" here. I am pretty sure that such lawsuits will not get very far. Lauck's case, however, is different since his nazi organization published and distributed anti-constitutional propaganda in Germany - written brochures about the Holocaust that "never happened", magazines about nazi "heroes", etc. Lauck was sentenced in Germany, and later returned to the US where he continues his nazist activities. Fine with me - what Lauck, Zündel, Leuchter, Rudolf, and other nazis do in your country is not my business. Christian
His material may have been published in Germany but he never personally distributed things in Germany. Basically he was arrested cause his material is “accessible” in Germany. His propaganda may have found it's way there, but if someone bought (say) David Irving’s book from amazon, does that mean David Irving should be held accountable because he wrote the book?
Ummm.....not exactly. Galatians deals exclusively with the "laws" of the old testiment passed down from God through Moses and how they relate to faith in Christ. This has nothing to do with "man's laws" i.e. "ruling government laws" No where, does the Bible say "do not follow bad laws". On the contrary, it states Christians are to adhere to the laws of man with the only exception being where they conflict with God's laws. That would mean breaking man's law is breaking God's law to adhere to man's law. So, for example, if for some twisted reason, the Freedom of Speach were totally revoked and it became law that speaking a single word in public was punishable by immediate death, you would have to adhere to that law. "Render unto Cesar what is Cesar's"
"Render unto Cesar what is Cesar's" When I was a kid I saw an IRS commercial showing Jesus basically telling people to pay their taxes.
If you say that we are to follow all laws that do not violate God's law, how does circumcision violate God's law, and why does Paul say new believers should not follow that law. (for those who are not familiar with Gal. that is the main issue addressed). According to your analysis we should have slavery and women should be property.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/secondworldwar/story/0,14058,1651305,00.html It is totally insane and sick! Sorry but there's no way around this! It is supposed to be a first world democratic nation not a third world dictatorship!
Don't know about other online auction sites, but although eBay does generally prohibit Nazi memorabilia, they do make a special exception for stamps and coins: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/offensive.html
If I go online and buy a coin from Nazi Germany, that money won't travel backwards in time for Hitler to be able to use to eliminate more Jews or help defeat the Allies in his war efforts, so I'd not feel like I was supporting a dictatorial regime in any way, lol. I don't have any coins from Nazi Germany, but do have several banknotes from Hussein's Iraq, a pretty brutal regime itself. I keep them because they're a part of history, not to glorify Hussein's actions in any way. Some people need to calm down... pretending a period of history never happened and saying its symbols should never seen is just silly at best and ignorant at worst.
