Let's hear it for Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacts. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on national television. "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia: one the Australian law and another the Islamic law, that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said. Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians." "However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia." "However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle." "This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom" "We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, Learn the language!" "Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture." "We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us." "If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like " A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others. "This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'." NOTE: I knew there was something that I liked about those Aussies, and now I know what it is!
I agree with them 100% and wish that our lot had the nerve to say the same instead of pandering to the PC lobby all the time, is it too much to ask that those who come here seeking a better way of life or to avoid persecution follow our laws and learn our languge rather than we having to accommodate theres? De Orc
Agree 100% as well. If these people (or any emigrants) wish to live in our countries, they need to adapt to the traditions, cultures, and language of this country (or any other country for that matter)...NOT the other way around! If I moved to Italy, I would expect to learn how to speak Italian and NOT force English down the citizen's throats. I also would respect the cultures and traditions of that country. I would not demand that I have time off to celebrate Independece Day if I lived in Italy or I would not demand to set up a speaker calling muslims to prayer 5 times a day. You see...many muslims have NO intention of assimilating and respecting the laws, cultures, and traditions of their new countries and it is time for many western countries to tell these people: "Adopt, assimilate...or go the f--k back to the hell hole you came from...we don't want the likes of you in our country and we don't need you as well!"
Agree 100% :thumb: The scourge of Islam is spread like the Black Death/Plague, like rats it scurries off the garbage vessels which travel the planet and disappear into the dark allies...
Those that wish to live in a country and live by the traditions of the local culture should be welcomed by all. No accommodation should be made for the culture that they came from. Assimilate or vacate should be the rule. Most immigrants already do this with no problem. Anyone who doesn't, probably has another agenda. Sharia law, gimme a break!
Moen I am quite happy to accomodate as you put it, I have no problems with Religion or cultural beliefs as long as they dont clash with our laws. If I went to Saudi to live I would be expected to abide by the laws of that country so why is it so different to ask incomers to respect and follow our laws? As for speaking our language yes that should be a prerequisit for becoming a citizen after all they have to be able to converse with there hosts. De Orc :thumb:
Now, I just wish the leaders of other countries around the world had the balls to say the same thing!
I tend to agree...I dont expect everyone to come here and become christian and start eating pork chops and watching football. I do expect them to live within our laws and request no special treatment or exemptions. I also think they need to speak our language. That goes for any culture wherever they may come from...here in Texas that refers more to mexicans and people from south america more than anything. That goes for any religion as well...which reminds me of a news story I read recently: Venice Beach Jews tangle with neighbors over beachfront eruvBy: Associated Press Published: October 25, 2006 Orthodox Jews in California's Venice Beach have found a 3,000-year-old loophole to a Jewish law that prohibits them from enjoying the beach on the Sabbath. But as Rachael Myrow of member station KPCC reports, environmentalists are concerned their solution might be dangerous for local birds. they want to use a strand of fishing line several miles (kilometers) long to create a symbolic religious enclosure are getting entangled in a dispute with beachfront residents and California environmentalists, who fear the string will snag birds and spoil the ocean view. The 70 or so families who attend a synagogue on Venice Beach's boardwalk are asking coastal regulators for permission to string the line above one of Southern California's most popular stretches of sand. Within that enclosure, the Orthodox would be free to do things they are forbidden to do outside the home on the Sabbath, such as pushing strollers and carrying bundles. The problem: California law calls for the protection of public views along the coast and the habitats of nesting shore birds. Some fear that endangered California least terns that nest nearby will fly into the fishing line and get killed. Others say that the galvanized steel poles that will be erected to hold up the fishing line along the beach will be an eyesore. "It's a major social inconvenience," said Lea Geller, who dreads spending Saturdays indoors with her newborn while her family walks to prayer at the Pacific Jewish Center. The way around these restrictions for some Orthodox Jews is an "eruv" _ a Hebrew word for the symbolic extension of an area considered private into the public domain. An eruv is often created by stringing a line between manmade and natural landmarks to create an unbroken enclosure. Efforts to enclose much of Santa Monica, Venice and Marina del Rey began in 2002. The final step would be linking about four miles (6.4 kilometers) of beachfront and an inland area to the current eight-mile (13-kilometer) patchwork of chain-link fences or walls along freeways and other major roads. The California Coastal Commission is expected to decide on the $20,000 (?16,000) proposal next month. The synagogue would bear the cost. Controversy often follows eruvs, more than 100 of which wind through major cities including Los Angeles and New York. Last month, San Diego officials approved an eruv despite concerns that public property should not be used for religious purposes. In 2003, the Supreme Court declined to hear a case in which a federal appeals court ruled that removing eruv markers in a New Jersey neighborhood probably violated the right to exercise religious beliefs. The least terns _ small, black-capped birds _ suffered a dramatic decline when Pacific Coast Highway was built, and the species was declared endangered in 1970. Since then, nesting sites have been protected. "This is really nuts," Mark Massara, director of the Sierra Club's California Coastal Program, said of the eruv proposal. "To the extent that we're allowing public property to be used for religious purposes is very troublesome." The Coastal Commission staff, which has been working with the Orthodox group to try to resolve the environmental concerns, may recommend approving the eruv for a three-year trial, said Peter Douglas, executive director. "We try and accommodate religious practices any way we can," he said. "It's just that we have a balancing act to do, taking into account other public interests including wildlife impacts." -------------------------------------------------------------- They need to stop asking for special treatment and either assimilate or get the **** out...
OMG! First you put a PIG on your lunar coin and now your tormenting and asking the muslims to act like civilized human beings! You Aussies are just looking for trouble!
Great article OldDan! I copied & sent it to several friends. We may start a mass exodus to Australia!:loud:

Say it now ! Say it now or later, it will come to pass. Attack our country more times then any one knows, and try to bog us down with dialog. I totally agree. Live by our rules of law or leave !:loud:
The Aussies have had problems with their beaches where gangs of muslims have attacked and raped local and tourist females for the crime of wearing a bathing suit. The Aussi men responded by fighting back a year or so ago but the media of course did not report why the Aussie men were fighting the "muslim demonstrators".
