What do you think the real story behind this Trophy system is? Why are U.S. military personnel resisting the testing of this obviously capable system? Was Eisenhower right about the military industrial complex?
It's been all over the news lately. An Israeli developed anti-RPG system that is effective 98% of the time and yet our military is unwilling to even test it because I'm sure U.S. contractors have their own version in the works and don't want the competition. Meanwhile, our soldiers are dying so that these military contractors can rake in more U.S. tax dollars and retired military personnel can receive lucrative jobs after they retire from the military. What a scandal. Big business putting money ahead of even our soldiers lives in the atmosphere of modern terrorism. You gotta love this country.
I've not seen this in the news... can you link to any good articles about it? This would be beyond scandalous if true.
nevermind, I found more than enough through Google Testing done through the Pentagon went 30 for 30 in accuracy with the only anomally in those 30 tests being that in one case the tail of the RPG was hit instead of the head. The Army is pushing the Trophy system aside in favor of the Future Combat System being developed from scratch by Raytheon who has secured a $70 million dollar contract to develop this system that won't be field ready until 2011. Not that I believe I'll accomplish much, but I'll be contacting my Congressmen.
If you like military technology textron-systems.com metalstorm.com Imagine what they do not show. The military industrial machine does business with some companies whe are not prepared to produce the product we want, or we take a flier and buy the wrong thing. During the V/Nam era there were jets that only carried missles. Big mistake, they were early sparrow, short range that worked one out of four shots. Talk about a major feeling of naked. High speed was the savior until the missle was made right.
