Not really... Hitler's control over production and other Keynesian socialist ideas were largely born out of the coming war... Everyone in Europe/USA knew it was coming... Versailles wasn't a Armistice, it was a 2o year cease-fire, and the world knew it... as it turns out, Hitler would have been better served if he had left MOST of his governing and battle field decisions up to the appropriate persons... He was nothing more than a brilliant speaker... the face of the movement... If it wasn't him that took the chair and led Germany to WWII, it most certainly would have been someone else... Germany and her people were against the wall... it was inevitable
Wrong, Hitler was farther to the left, on economic issues, than FDR. When things were going well in Germany many Keynesians were applauding him. A bit on Hitler's economic policies, QUOTE In the 1930s, Hitler was widely viewed as just another protectionist central planner who recognized the supposed failure of the free market and the need for nationally guided economic development. Proto-Keynesian socialist economist Joan Robinson wrote that "Hitler found a cure against unemployment before Keynes was finished explaining it." QUOTE What were those economic policies? He suspended the gold standard, embarked on huge public works programs like Autobahns, protected industry from foreign competition, expanded credit, instituted jobs programs, bullied the private sector on prices and production decisions, vastly expanded the military, enforced capital controls, instituted family planning, penalized smoking, brought about national health care and unemployment insurance, imposed education standards, and eventually ran huge deficits. The Nazi interventionist program was essential to the regime's rejection of the market economy and its embrace of socialism in one country. Sounds like left-wing economic policies to me. A bit more information: QUOTE In 1977, Harvard economist John Kenneth Galbraith wrote in his book The Age of Uncertainty that Hitler "was the true protagonist of the Keynesian ideas." QUOTE Keynes himself even explained that his theories were not incompatible with national socialism. In the forward to the German edition of his book The General Theory (1936), Keynes wrote that "the theory of output as a whole, which is what the following book purports to provide, is much more easily adapted to the conditions of a totalitarian state, thanunder conditions of free competition and a large measure of laissez-faire." From "Time Magazine" Jan 2, 1939 QUOTE "Most cruel joke of all, however, has been played by Hitler & Co. on those German capitalists and small businessmen who once backed National Socialism as a means of saving Germany's bourgeois economic structure from radicalism. The Nazi credo that the individual belongs to the state also applies to business. Some businesses have been confiscated outright, on other what amounts to a capital tax has been levied. Profits have been strictly controlled. Some idea of the increasing Governmental control and interference in business could be deduced from the fact that 80% of all building and 50% of all industrial orders in Germany originated last year with the Government. Hard-pressed for food- stuffs as well as funds, the Nazi regime has taken over large estates and in many instances collectivized agriculture, a procedure fundamentally similar to Russian Communism."
So you look up to him for his mind f*ck abilities and plans of world domination? Makes sense with your dream of white power.. you aint no Hitler, that's for sure.. Hahahahahaha Hey fellacio.. whites have run the world into the ground for centuries, you want some more?.. wake up, dumbass.
Everyone was applauding him when things were going well... He was far left on many issues, but his state control over production was, at least in my opinion, his gearing up for a war he was going to start... Fact is, we never had a chance to see Hitler actually govern Germania when it wasn't at war... considering what a megalomaniac he was he would probably have screwed that up to like he did the battlefield strategy... He was a Brilliant Orator, but that was all... Problem was, he started to believe his own BS about how smart he was... He was pretty smart, but not smart enough to see the inevitable...
Wez, the best thing you can do is just keep telling him "I think liberally and so does approximately half of the USA". Just keep saying it. Honestly, that's punishment enough
great post... But I'm still not convinced that he was coming from the left at heart... I have always thought that he was using Socialist ideas to get HUGE amounts of production and growth out of a nation with little to offer except labor in a very short period of time to supply the war effort... Kinda like he hijacked Xtianity... He was definitely NOT a Xtian, but he wielded it like a sword... If you have anymore, please post... Best rebuttal yet.. I'm interested in reading more...
Actually, about 33% consider themselves conservative, 18% liberal with the rest/majority somewhere in the middle.
just as I thought... half the country is middle nice average... Liberals are more vocal, so it might appear that the sides are even, but more conservatives makes sense...
Are we talking about individual human beings, or words? Fukkin A.. What do we call your big fukking mouth?
That's odd, because I searched on google and the only person with any kind of confident answer came up with: 40% liberal 20% moderate 40% Conservative Where did you get your stats from?
How convenient. My google search: percentage people in usa liberal conservative - Google Search "percentage of people in the usa liberal conservative" Plus the CNN poll which puts Obama at 46% and McCain at 45% When I said "think liberally" I was using the term broadly to include "votes democrat"
Which site did you go to from that google search? Just wondering. In the US there is a big difference between someone who is votes Republican or Democrat and who considers themselves conservative or liberal. Voting Democrat doesn't mean you are liberal. You could very well be centrist and lean left or are a one issue voter, i.e. abortion, anti-gun, etc... These are generalizations because unfortunately we have become a two party nation. I consider myself a fiscal conservative, but social centrist and often vote Democarat, but am registered Republican. The site I was on and have been trying to find, was how the population views themselves not their party affiliation.
Not if I linked to it in a closed tab from a search engine. My history clears when I close my browser.
lol, you clean history every time you close? What is up with that? Going places you don't want the wifey to know about? Well, assuming you actually got to the site and your not just making stuff up as Anna alludes to, you had to get there somewhere. I have most of the statistic sites I use all on favorite tabs. If what you used was just a random site you don't know anything about, well I would not have used it until I was sure they were not offering a biased study anyway.
No wife, but kids that usually switch user but not always when on the internet. I keep ones I go to often bookmarked like the OnTheIssues one, Peter G. Peterson, FactCheck.org and such, but a site that divided the population by ideology isn't one I had saved. I guess I should find a good one, with credible statistics though. I need to find the stats, but I still believe that the majority of the population is centrist, taken all things into perspective. Social, economic, education, etc...
Honestly, I'm not going to chase you on this because it's beside my point. How about this: "There are always going to be people who are proud and happy to be liberal and think it's right to think liberally, no matter how much you don't like it"
I don't care how you think. I respect a person's right to think liberal. It's the liberals who have a problem with those who have conservative values as being wrong.
