Hey, I was just wondering, those who read this site and actively collect, are we mostly males, or are there a large number of females as well? Also, this may be a bit too touchy, but how about political leaning? I am just curious if coin collecting is a hobby of a specific group of people? ...

Based upon demonstrated behavior of posting, I would come to the conclusion that the overwelmingly majority is white middle aged to older males. However, there seems to be a growing 18 to 2o something population. We also have some school aged members but they could teach me a few things about coins so I would say that all in all there is a healthy mix with the exception being not enough female souls to grace the threads.

    "how about political leaning?"

Well I can not speak for others but I would say that the European members tend to be more socialistic, the young more liberal and the Americans who are moderate or lean to the right are middle aged or older and mainly vets. As for the balance of power, it seems that all things are pretty much equal.

Personally, I am a moderate or centralist of no political party who believes that being in the center is best for that way one can take the best ideas from both sides and keep the rest of the issues as is for stability.

Andy I agree with you about the genre of people who frequent this site. I had a feeling that we were mostly white males... As for me, I am 24 and a full time professor, with conservative leanings. I am NOT a republican, but an independent conservative...

There's a few ladies out there - not near enough of 'em though ;) And I think the numbers of YNs are actually increasing. Whether they stick it out or fall into the same trap myself and many others did remains to be seen.

As for politics - unh uh - I aint goin there

As an outsider and a person who has participated in various internet chat rooms, I am certain that posters here at CoinTalk are smarter and more educated than posters in other forums. Even the liberals here occassionally put forth reasonable arguments. :D Just joking...........

Hey, at one time I was considered by others to be liberal on many issues and I do not think that I grew conservative with age for I still have pretty much the same viewpoints now as then its just that what is considered liberal changed.

I'm 22, and I'm right leaning. College can do that to you, since I hear stupid liberal arguments all day long. Now, I'm not saying liberal arguments are neccessarily stupid, just the ones I hear at school. One's like 9/11 was a planned event by the US government.
