And how many times has the same body condemed the attacks upon Isreal, or is it still a one way street? De Orc :thumb:
United Nations is illrelevent as long as so many member nations ignore resolutions. There are many nations in this category, notably USA, Russia, China, Israel, Iran, even France. With resolutions against Israel, note not many actually adopted, because one member of security council, USA! vetoed them. Any resolutions against USA similarly vetoed by... USA! But same go for resolutions against China, or China interests in world, China veto them. Russia veto resolutions not in best interests of Russia in world. So everybody does it. So UN is indeed not worth the too much effort for it, maybe go way of League of Nations(which USA never member of anyway)
The un is a shell for corruption and power, of which they have very little and since participation is voluntary there are no real penalties for giving them the finger, esp since they have shown themselves in the past and recently reaffirmed their anti-semetic views. They are the paper tiger. We should take the building, declare the envoys persona non grata and turn the building into some usable office space for Americans to make more money with wonderful Capitalism.
We ought to pull our membership from them and our funding of their "organization" Has anyone else heard the rumor, and I stress rumor that the un has and still is attempting to pass legislation that would allow them to directly tax the citizens of nations (primarily the US) so they could skirt the issues of member dues being withheld from certain countries.
Oh, silly me, all this time I thought the US used planes, ships and tanks to attack Iraq. If those UN resolutions are just as good, you'd think we'd be saving a lot of money.
UN Resolutions are waste of effort and time. UN has not any realistic agenda which really benefits peace in world, otherwise it would stop conflicts.
So, can I assume then that what you're saying is that if the Bush administration wants to be intellectually and morally consistent, they need to attack Israel (and any nation about which the UN Security Council has passed a resolution)? Or that if we ignore UNSC resolutions against Israel, we should ignore them against Iraq and any other nations? Absolutes in international relations rarely are.
One absolute that seems consistant is that the Bush administration will act in a corrupt way to benefit Haliburton and the like. This absolute never wavers.
