It's really sad when you think about it. Is this what this country has come down to? I'll bet you can't even get Jolie to agree with this statement!
It's kind just meant to be humorus AND I remember a while back you changing something I wrote and quoting me. I find it hard to believe you are doing this by accident at this point. That's it! I'm not going hunting with you now. Too bad, Jolie was looking forward to it.
Well Moen...just because I was drafted by the Marine Corps does not mean I am stupid. It means that I have fought for my country, and as it sounds to me you have not a clue in that regard. I as well have Degrees, BS in Biology from Univ Texas and a Masters of Science in Biotechnology from Univ Massachusetts. Just because you little twits **** me off when talking all this Allah bull sh_ _ I wish I could have you scared little ass on the front line with those radical idiots shooting at you..I think you would change your minds. So for whats it worth, you can say what you want..its your right..but there are those out in this world that care for our way of life and what it means too us. Reflect for a moment if you can and think about the lives lost to this insanity...if this were the 1940's this skirmish would have been over with long by now because the American people would have kicked ass an taken Allah to meet Chesty Puller! Perhaps I should not let the gibberish of the few bother me so much..but hey, this is my Country too...I harbor no ill feelings for the people of the Middle East whom are willing to accept the terms of a Democratic Society...it is the idiots that impose chicken **** tactics like suicide bombing that I am making reference to. Just happens to be more of those than there are truly God fearing people that want change! I support our Military, and I would go if called in a heartbeat! Would you? And by the way, I use K-9 Kidney cells for research...here Poochy..Poochy..Poochy..got a little Pavlov for ya! Bang! RickieB
Well, you already did, sir. And I have absolutely no problem with telling the moderators that you are being slanderous/libeleous toward myself and several members of this forum who have chosen to express opinions that differ from yours. I will ask you once more to be kinder, and I thank you again in advance for doing so. ~AJ
Gee I wonder why. The Ottoman was among the world's most powerful empires and Europeans actually felt threatened by their advance through the Balkans at the height of the empire in the 16th and 17th centuries. It didn't crash down fast, the Ottoman Empire was the one that captured the Byzantine capital Constantinople (then an important Christian city like today's Rome) before the Renaissance and stayed there, for centuries. What have they contributed to human civilization? Beside all those inventions and areas of academia the muslim achieved centuries before the height of the Ottoman, the whole while Europeans were hungry for silk and the riches of the Orient, the middlemen of the Middle East and Central Asia facilitated the needed trade until the European eventually learned how to navigate the ocean. Meanwhile the Chinese, the Arabs and handfull of other civilizations had already learnt how to read the stars, centuries before. Spanish itself have many loan words from Arabic, even to the most basic article: "El". Many of the words passed on to English. It wasn't until after WWI that the Allies carved up its territories and the Ottoman Empire was no longer. Today's Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Europe is now a hotbed of instability. Why? How can one weight the importance of any invention and advance? Are the ones in the last 200 years the only important and worth ones? I'm sure without the ones invented 400 years ago you and I would be 200 years behind, writing to each other about coins featuring the newest steam engine locomotive by snail mail, WITHOUT postage stamps. To response to RickieB's blurb on Roman establishing the foundation for medical history. The islamic world reached its primacy in medical science before the 1st millennium. Europeans during the Dark Ages were still relying on ancient Roman and Greek text until the Rennaissance. The islamic world advanced their alchemy after the Fall of the Roman Empire before the centre of science shifted back to Europe in the Rennaisance. Really, one of the catalyst for the Rennaissance learning that pull Europe out of the Dark Ages was this wave of Islamic academia that flooded westward. And on the concept of Zero, it was long before explained in Sanskrit text and appeared in arabic books before eventually imported to Europe in the 8th century. I didn't say any group of people should revenge historic wrongs by terrorism. At least the many American Natives were compensated with land grant. What did people of the third world and the Middle East get? Those countries that were blessed with needed resources like the Middle East and South Africa became a bit more well off on the surface but underneath all that oil barrels and diamonds it's still a mess. What had the former colonial governments done? These countries became nothing but a cash grab exploits. If there weren't oil in Middle East there wouldn't have been so much attention and fighting over it for the last 100 years. Have you heard much from the Bukina Faso or the Guinea-Bissau lately since the slave and ivory trade had been halted? Really, it looks like history is repeating itself. From what i've read so far just from this thread looks like people are still categorising the entire group of religious/ethnicity just because some are carrying out extreamism. Terrorists strike and kill people indiscriminately, how was that different from the 2 h-bombs dropped in Nagasaki and Hiroshima? It's true the Japanese armies had done its fine share of atrocities across Asia and of course, for you Americans: Hawaii, but was dropping the bombs obliveating 2 cities the correct and neccessary response? What was the children and most of the civilians' role in the war? All I'm saying this cycle of hate is still going on and is still very much evident here in this thread. You can reject these as invalid comparison of historic events but this is percisely why history is repeating itself across both sides of the conflict. This is the point i've been trying to make all along yet people somehow think pointing out historic parrellels and pointing out Christians did just as much wrong in the past means I support muslims terrorists.
sOr...ry... i ... raN... out... oF.... Co... mIc.... b0okz.... Uh huh. Only in hindsight do modern religious groups now distance themselves from these groups. But back in the day those were supported by the community, law-enforcement, the government, as well as religious groups. Have we forgotten the days when non-whites weren't allowed in "white" churches? The KKK was made up of predominantly protestant members and they didn't only cause trouble for colours, but also included Catholics. Could they have fostered if their churches put a stop to it? If you think the Salem witch hunt was only about superstition and ignorance you have missed the whole lesson again. It's no wonder the McCarthyism was coined a witch hunt precisely because it was the exact same kind of thing happened in Salem. Religion was then used by the Puritans to cause hysteria and persecute individuals, not unlike how some individuals used the power of the government to push their agenda in the 60s. Many muslim will tell you that terrorism acted out by some of their fellow believers are(were) disturbed individuals who are(were) fanatics and are(were) not representative of their religion. What's your point? That was put there to show Christians are just as capable of carrying out terrorist activities, even if the "enemy" is of a different sect of Christianity. These are all in response to your original holier-than-thou claim that Christians don't act on their words. I wasn't really making comparison vis-a-vis contemporary terrorist activities.
I'm telling on you...squeal, squeal, squeal...oink, oink, oink. Grow up...reinforce your argument before you raise your voice. I am just amazed an the number of people that support "the religion of peace" in this country. Thank God you weren't around during World War II as Nazi's would have been called "insurgents" and you would have been screaming,"wrong war, wrong time, wrong place". Also, my opinion of the religion of peace did not come all at once. My first introduction to the wonderful world of islam came in 1972 as I watched Jim McCay of ABC sports tell the world, "They are all gone" referring to the islamic terrorists killing all of the Israel atheletes at the Munich games. I was 12 at the time, but I couldn't understand what made these people animals. Did my feelings go awy? No...we had "Religion of peace" events like: ...the attack on the USS Cole ...countless bombings in Isreal by Hamas and the PLO. Too many to mention. ...the attack on the Marine Barracks in Lebanon ...the day 69 year old Leon Klinghoffer (bound to a wheel chair) was thrown overboard the Achille Laurel ...the hijacking of the plane that blew up over Lockereby Scottland ...the FIRST attack of the World Trade Center in the early 90's... ...the London Subway bombings I could go on, the point is that the "religion of peace" has no intention of welcoming or respecting those that don't want to make a trip to Mecca or change their name to Mohammad. Never under estimate their devotion to their god and their intention to kill us. Have you forgotten?
I find it kind of funny. No one here is defending suicide bombers, Muslim radicals, or any part of Islamic teachings that advocate voilence in the name of their religion. I have yet to see any one write "Go Bombers!" But because some of us(and we know who we are) don't hate ALL Muslims because of the actions of some other Muslims, we are literally installing explosives in the car bombs and backpacks of the suicide bombers in your minds. Maybe, just maybe, we are able to draw a distiction between those that wish us harm and those that don't. You can't really believe that every person of the Muslim faith is a suicide bomber, Islamic radical or western hating killer. I don't believe that anyone is really that stupid. Why has this "debate" focussed on extremes. I think it is because the real facts are less cut and dry than you think so you have to argue from a point that isn't really defendable. This is a complicated enemy and we are treading on new ground. Old tired rhetotic like shoot 'em all isn't going to work in the situation. Maybe it's time to stop debating with ourselves and start searching for the things we agree on. See if we can find a short statement that no one here can disagree with. Such as: (1) I'm believe there are Muslims in the Middle East that mean to harm us. (2) I believe there are Muslims in the Middle East that don't wish us any harm. Two simple statements that if you can't agree with, you might be taking an extreme position and any of your contributions to this debate are basically moot. Who's next?
Until the day comes when fellow muslims go after these animals with the same determination as civilized people...then I will change my mind. But they have clearly demonstrated they don't want to see these animals eliminated or brought to justice. Hence, it is their actions or rather lack of it that fuel the fire. You have a cleric that goes on CNN telling people that islam is a "religion of peace" only to go to his mosque and "priase allah" for the animals fighting jihad. ACTIONS...where are the ACTIONS of these people to do the right thing? Since I don't see any ACTIONS, we (non-mulsims) have to do it because these people are unwilling to police their own. That makes them the enemy as well as they quietly harbor, support, and "understand" these animals. Until then, I will not put up with these animals and people that don't wish to join the civilized world. Where are the ACTIONS? Don't give me lip service because I don't buy it...give me positive ACTIONS of mulsims to excorcise this cancer from their religion. What ACTIONS do you see? Dancing around, shooting off AK-47's around decapitated westerners or celebrating the the events of 9/11. Obviously these people didn't commit terrorist acts as of yet, but they clearly demonstrate they are animals as well. Still holding my breath...
Close but no cigar! You can't even get this right, can you? When a post is edited, there is a notice at the bottom to inform you of the date and time it was edited. Finding none, I can only immagine you are smoking some of that funny weed grown in Arizona. OOops! Some more slander!
Excellent suggestion there Moen, and let me say you have made a good start with the two above statements. Both of which I can agree. I'm sorry you can''t make it to the hunt this fall, but your dog is still invited. See there, I'm easy to get along with!
I think it's unfortunate that the first and the following contacts some of you have with this religion and muslims is only through the news. Perhaps you haven't... - rode on the same bus with average muslims - sat in the same classroom with them - shopped in the same mall as them - lived on the same street as them, perhaps right next door - encountered some of them in person and even befriended them
Are you saying that IF I were friends with some of these people, I would understand their desire to kill me and all those that I hold dear? Or are you saying that if I were friends with some of them, and a suicide bomber came to drop one on me, they would protect and defend me from this person? For ejm's benefit.. you can see where this post was edited (to correct spelling.)
How do you manage to hold your breath and expell so much hot air at the same time? You, sir, are a very talented man.
It seems like you guys just want to fight and genuine debate is out of the question. I can't tell you how many times I've read the same boring arguments. Arguing for the sake of arguing is nothing short of mental masturbation. I'm sure that the only thing that will put a halt to this futile bickering is your eventual blindness. I'll try and post a good site that sells white canes. I think there's gonna be a need.
After reading the posts this morning, I have decided that it just isn't worth it to try to contribute here any more. Some of the members in this thread do not want to hear what I consider to be open-minded arguments. For many here, and for some reason, especially those who are older, this issue is black and white - kill everyone, or let "them" kill us. I do not, will not, and can not see it this way. But it does me no good to argue to a wall, and it is therefore that I will not be posting in this thread again. For those of you that decline to listen to other arguments, even if you may disagree with them, I pity you. Because it is people like this that only cause people to be more adamant in the killing of American citizens. If you want to go and kill all Muslims, or whatever it is you are arguing for doing in this matter, go for it. I will not be joining you, and I do hope that those of you advocating the "kill 'em all" approach will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for genocide should you actually go out and do this. I bid you all good day, and I hope to see some of you in the coin threads under better circumstances. ~AJ
