What do you think will happen in the aftermath of these massive Mexican demonstrations? To me, this issue is rather like having a rude brother-in-law house-guest stay too long. In this case, he has taken up permanent residence and justifies his presence by doing the dishes and occassionally mowing the lawn. How does one get rid of an unwelcome and belligerent house-guest?

I don't think the Senate, House, or the Administration will do anything but grant unconditional amnesty. Oh yes, there will be the prefunctory speeches.

I saw a Mexican immigrant interviewed during a protest march and she was saying that the immigrants aren't criminals and they are hard working and honest people. Then I thought to myself, wait a minute, if you are in this country without the permission of the US Government, how is it that you think you are not a criminal? You've already broken a US law by entering this country and broken it a second time by staying here and then yet again by working without a green card. But she insists that they are not criminals.

I wouldn't call them violent criminals or even dangerous people in a huge majority of the cases. I believe that our country needs these workers and they can become good citizens of this country if they are willing to do it legally. They are clearly here for economic reasons with the blind eye of their own government. Coming here illegally creates a underclass that is prone to exploitation by gangs, pornographers, and any criminal element that wishes to feed on the precarious nature of an undocumented persons existence.

The problem in this situation is that neither the Mexican Government nor the US Government is willing to do anything to enforce the law of the land. The US caves in to the business lobby, they prostitute themselves to the Spanish/American voting bloc, and they ignore the laws that they themselves have enacted. The Mexican government does nothing to stop it's citizens from leaving and complains bitterly when we try to enact half-hearted measures to stem the flow of illegals. Our own government is against ordinary citizens trying to monitor and stop the illegal crossings.

Now we have massive protests nation-wide against any solution by hoards of people waving Mexican flags claiming they aren't criminals. What's wrong with this picture folks?

This is definitely a bad situation. I think the best solution should be to deport illegal immigrants, unless a company would be willing to sponsor them in a sense, which would then put them on the tax rolls etc, so I won't have to pay 9.3% state income tax in California :)

Oh, and btw, I think mexicans should be allowed to come in, as long as they aren't true criminals, and be allowed to work as long as they pay taxes, and follow occupancy limits etc.

Here is one small thing you can do:

Tyson Foods has been one of the worst offenders in using undocumented workers, (illegal aliens) in production of their food products. Here is a form you can use to contact them and tell them you and your family will not be using their products until they stop:

I think I will make this its own thread.

I agree with most of the above.
I would like to know how many of them also have illegal Social Security cards and are defauding our nation out of perhaps billions of dollars over time with welfare checks, free housing, food stamps, free medical, etc......You know they are not building those nice homes in Mexico earning 3 dollars an hour.

Now how is it that our government republican or democrat can send young men overseas to risk life and limb and at times come home sliently to defend the interests of this great nation but we can't use the national guard to round up the illegals who are shutting down streets and deport them. The power they have is the power that was given to them.

It is called "Hispania", which is a condition not to do ANYTHING that will upset anybody of hispanic ancestry.

Both republicans and democrats don't want to be credited with reducing and enforcing immigration laws...after all, that hispanic voting block is breeding faster and growing at such a rate that whites will be a minority class by 2050! So instead of doing what is right, they are doing nothing while the problem gets worst.

What's worse is that these illegals are demanding and receiving government services at the expense of legal Americans that work and produce. So what do some people want to do? Give them MORE government aid and services and take it from legal Americans that work and follow the law. It is typical class warfare and income transfer at its best!

Language - culture - borders. Watching what is happening in America with these criminals that DEMAND more and take MORE is watching the death of this great country. Maybe not in my lifetime, but in the next 100 years the gimmee-gimmee-gimmee crowd will control the legislative branch and will tax what's left of American tax payers for all for their socialist distribution programs. When nothing is left to tax, they will scratch their heads and wonder why their tax policy failed.

After all, all great civilizations come and go...what is happening in this country with this gimmee-gimmee attitude is just the start of the fall of the great United States. You can thank the socialist attitudes and gimmee-gimmee-gimmee crowd for this demise.

Keep the citizens fat and stupid as they watch sports and "feel-good" programs like Oprah while the social parasites destroy the country...it is pretty much what happened to the Roman Empire:

I wonder why the media/police/local gov'ts are low-balling the the estimates on attendance. In Phoenix they marched 5 miles and ALL 5 MILES had packed roads (between 8 to 4 lane roads). They called that 120,000. Think about that, 5 miles of road packed with people, that is clearly more than 250,000 people.
It was so extreme that the other roads in the Phoenix area had about 1/2 the traffic (they were all at that protest).

No but I watched a bit of local tv with a lot of helicopter shots. Huge numbers.
Anyone in AZ knows Grand Ave it is the most well known stretch of road in the state, the road about 8 lanes wide and that is where they were marching.

    Huge numbers

These street protests are truly impressive. It is a shame that the Mexican community never expended this much energy in acquiring legitimate citizenship, learning English, and adopting American cultural values. They like to compare themselves with our European immigrant ancestors, but it is a poor comparison in many ways. Both Democrats, and Republicans like G.W. Bush, have created this horrible mess. Unfortunately, we will all have to live with their proported solutions.

At a minimum, the US government needs to deport the Mexican street criminals, current Mexican prisoners, and unemployed Mexican citizens. The real solution, and the most immediate, would be to jail American employers that knowingly hire illegal immigrants. I'll bet the US minimum wage would increase by necessity. We need a fence or border protection.

I intend to boycott local businesses that hire illegal immigrants. It is about all I can do. We need to start somewhere.

They are simply here to for the free medical, free education and tax free money that gets shipped home so someday they can live like kings. Citizenship is the last thing on their minds. My niece who is a nurse at a local hospital told me that hispanics account for 60% of the patients in her maternity ward and that 90% of them are on medicaid. She also said that many times they will ask that someone's name other than the parents be put on the birth certificate. When my son's baby was born last week the Hispanic patient next door had a waiting room full of 12 family members and not a single one could speak english. No matter what I said to them they simply shook their head, smiled and said yes.

When my ancestors arrived in this country (1880's), there was NO social services and goverment subsidizes. They either worked or starved.

They also WANTED to become Americans, learn English, and assimilate into the United States. They didn't bring their native country flags and protest for more government services. Also, they arrived LEGALLY and through legal points of entry. Sure...they were discrimminated against and everything...but they didn't cry out for more gimmee-gimmee social programs. Guess what? They worked and assimilated into this country and made it better!

So...all you illegal immigrant protectors, don't even try to compare today's immigrants with ours of yesteryear!

Legal immigrants of the past formed the real backbone of this country...they didn't try to invade it and tell everybody else that lives here that we should learn Spanish and adopt to their 3rd world country's culture...quite the opposite to the mess that is happening in this country, wouldn't you say??
