I do not watch political speeches/debates. I hear enough of their lies the rest of the time. And, BTW, that is not limited to the dems.

Romney did better than I expected him to do but pushed the same same lies he always pushes. Wait until the fact checkers get a hold of Romney's words. Romney won on style just not substance. Obama should have called out Romney on his lies especially the 716 billion dollar Medicare lie he repeated 3 times. I found the whole thing sort of boring I guess because it was primarily about economics, taxes, and policy. Both sides will spin this debate the way they want to see it and ramp up the expectations for the next one. Rah! Rah!

    And here ya go... http://factcheck.org/2012/10/dubious-denver-debate-declarations/

You somehow conveniently forget to mention Obama's lies. Here are some from the website you referenced:

Obama accused Romney of proposing a $5 trillion tax cut. Not true. Romney proposes to offset his rate cuts and promises he won’t add to the deficit.

Obama oversold his health care law, claiming that health care premiums have “gone up slower than any time in the last 50 years.” That’s true of health care spending, but not premiums. And the health care law had little to do with the slowdown in overall spending.

Obama said 5 million private-sector jobs had been created in the past 30 months. Perhaps so, but that counts jobs that the Bureau of Labor Statistics won’t add to the official monthly tallies until next year. For now, the official tally is a bit over 4.6 million.

Obama again said he’d raise taxes on upper-income persons only to the “rates that we had when Bill Clinton was president.” Actually, many high-income persons would pay more than they did then, because of new taxes in Obama’s health care law.

Obama again touted his “$4 trillion” deficit reduction plan, which includes $1 trillion from winding down wars that are coming to an end in any event.

Many voters don't start paying attention until the debates. Last night's debate gave Romney exactly what he needed and that is exposure on a national level to millions upon millions of people. One thing is for certain: Romney came out fighting and was on point while Obama seemed rather disenchanted with the entire affair. I'll give credit to Obama for being a good speaker, but last night he didn't seem as if his heart was in it. Regardless, handlers on both sides with be analyzing this debate and will gear up their candidates for the next one. I think we'll see Obama coming back somewhat stronger the next time. What I'm really looking forward to is the Vice-presidential debate next week.

Pundits on both sides give Romney edge in first debate as campaigns look to round 2

Pundits on both sides of the aisle praised the presidential candidates for their performances in their first debate but appeared to give the higher marks to Mitt Romney.

In particular, they said, Romney appeared more energetic than President Obama, at least through the first half of the 90-minute debate.

Joe Trippi, a Fox News contributor and a former campaign manager for Democrat Howard Dean, suggested Obama gave the kind of underwhelming performance he has seen in previous debates.

“This is the guy who showed up,” Trippi said. “He didn’t enjoy it.”

Bill Gaston, a senior fellow at the liberal-leaning Brookings Institute think tank, said: “Romney did himself considerable good. ... I would not be surprised to learn that a majority of American people think he won it outright.”

Conservatives and Republican leaders were more emphatic. And so was the Twitter-verse, which appeared lopsidedly to favor Romney, even from within the so-called liberal media.

“Mitt was fabulous tonight,” said Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee. “I think tonight will go down as one of the most historical one-sided debates in history.”

Like the pre-debate posturing by both camps that pundits compared it to a run-up to a heavyweight boxing match, there was no shortage of sports metaphors in the the post-debate analysis.

“I thought Romney won and Romney won big,” said Charles Krauthammer, a conservative columnist and Fox News contributor. “He won by two touchdowns.”

Bill Maher, a liberal comedian and TV host who supports Obama, tweeted: “Obama's not looking like he came for a job interview, Romney so far does.”

Nate Silver, an election-race handicapper who writes the closely watched FiveThirtyEight politcal blog for the New York Tinmes, wrote: “I’d be surprised if tonight didn’t move the head to head polls some (in Romney's direction.)"

Even so, the president indeed made several key points and appeared to spring into life as the debate got going, hammering Romney for what he considered a lack of specifics on economic plans – include how Romney would replace the president’s signature health-care law, now popularly called ObamaCare even by the president himself.

Team Obama told reporters in Denver after the debate, “Romney was testy, very testy.”

Vice President Joe Biden praised the president’s performance and attacked Romney for what he considered a lack of specifics on such issues as bank regulations and plans to replace ObamaCare.

“If you watched, you’re as proud of Obama as I am,” Biden said.

I think I can now figure out who won the debate - and hands down at that. When Van johnson says Romney won and even Axelrod complimented Romney, I seriously doubt Obama did well by anyone's account

That is why I never vote for anyone based on what they say (unless it may be a local election where the candidate has nos obvious record), but only vote based on their record and history. In this case, Romney worked with an 86% Democratic legislature and accomplished something. Obama worked with a 60% Republican legislature and used that as an excuse for his problems.

I think that there are so few undecided voters left and people that have already voted that the debates are not likely to change anything no matter who you want to consider the "winner". The only winner that actually matters is of course the winner on November 6th. This debate will not change that outcome, Obama will still be the president of this country on November 7th. I'd be entirely willing to bet 47% of my retirement account on that prediction. :D

That depends on your perspective. I seem to remember someone else in that group of liars Romney was referring to.

Now Joe that would be pretty safe bet. The question is would you be willing to bet 47% of your retirement that Obama is president January 21,2013?
