FINALLY! You've come to your senses! Additionally, the moral that one might receive from this story is that it's also a good idea to carry a firearm in case of attack from:

1. Burglars

2. Persons intending to harm you or your family

3. Rapists

4. Armed robbers

5. Carjackers

6. Dangerous, life-threatening persons

7. Vicious animals

8. Any reason when your life may be threatened and help is too far away or non-existent.

Yeah, the world is a great big dangerous place with lions, tigers, and bears. Why stop at having a gun? Wouldn't it be safer just to hunker down in your basement and never risk the inevitable lightening strike? You never know when that meteor with your name on it is going to come hurling down from space and *splat* it's all over for you. I hear that galaxies collide too and you never hear them coming. Life is just fraught with peril and people out to get you. I just think I'll take my chances and live my life free of the fear and anxiety that seems to plague the Right-wingers. They simply give into unreasonable fear and react to everything in life out of insecurity disproportional to the actual threat life poses. What a way to live. Not me my friend, not me.

 

Good points, but I was laughing 'cause of how he could have just said "To protect myself, my family, and others..." and left it at that. Instead it was "In case a polar bear nests in the dog house and gets hungry and decides to raid the 'fridge" and "Gazelles jump high! No, David. They're absolutely fearless. Strong, invulnerable supermen who have no need for any defense against the evils of the world. Why should we lock our doors at night when we have them to defend us?

The silliest part of this thread is how iqless says he supports the 2nd amend in one post then proceeds to parrot lil joe moen's claim that anyone who believes in it is "unstable". Talk about conflicted allegiances...who to support? His personal views or those of the master? I'm sure this is something not dissimilar in the haeds of many Obama-ites.

 

David, you also need to realize that Democrats and liberals throw caution to the wind. Of course, they never change the oil in their cars as a precautionary measure against engine failure. Their wives smoke and drink during pregnancy because what is the point of trying to protect the human life growing in the womb? They don't see a need for a roof on their house because there are more sunny days than rainy days.

Don't you see, David? To liberals, the world is full of rainbows and lollipops and "bad things happen to the other guy".

 

You will be surprised to learn I said no to all three. Every lock I buy is built be companies who design it to fail within a year, and I'm tired of giving those @#$%-suckers more money, money they would use to make even more cheap-(_l_)ed products to rip off more money from us. So @#$% 'em, the door is unlocked.

As for saving money for an emergency? You don't understand the concept of living paycheck to paycheck, so I can forgive that, but yes, I would love to be able to save money for emergencies, and for my kid to inherit, it simply isn't possible though.

Life insurance? Is that what people with money buy? But yes, I would love to be able to afford it.

But, do I need a gun? Nope. I have deer in my yard on a daily basis. I haven't seen any black bear, but I know they are around. In neither case do I need a gun though, even with bear around. We did have a cougar roaming through the area last year, and we did take certain precautions, but we didn't feel the need to arm ourselves with any guns. Feel free to chastise us for that, if you feel so strongly about it, but that's our decision to make, and would understand if you decided differently.
