Did Romney really say that middle income was $200,000 to $250,000 a year?

I was looking at this article and it says that Romney believes that middle income is around a quarter million dollars a year. Well, I guess I must be really poor then, cause I'm not making anywhere near that, but I always though I was more toward middle income. Someone's out of touch with reality.

Is Obama out of touch with reality? He said a family making less than $250,000 (that's $249,999 or less) is middle class.

Thank you for posting that correction, RLM. In case anyone missed it, here it is again:

(Correction, 11:34 am: A previous version of this article said that Mitt Romney defined middle income as between $200,000 and $250,000 a year. In fact, Romney defined middle income as that salary range "and less.")

Nice to see you finally post something, Pete. :p

Do you remember McCain's answer? It makes Romney's comment almost look intelligent.

Another politician who wants you to believe that 97% of Americans have middle class incomes.

Well, I guess if you define it as anyone making less than a quarter million a year, that would include about 97% of Americans. Right?

Of course, even if what he stated was that and the "and less" bit at the end, I still don't accept that $250,000 a year is "middle income" in any way, shape, or form.

It's odd how anyone can criticize Romney for being out of touch while at the same time pretend BO is not. Both are millionaires with the only difference being Romney became a millionaire before politics while BO became a millionaire as a result of politics.

How far does the "and less" go until it's considered lower income or poverty?

You will have to ask Obama. Those are his definitions.

The poverty line is pretty specific, a bit over $10,000 for a single person. In my area, that allows for only a meager existence, some necessities are met, other not. At $25,000, I'd say most needs are met, double that for a small family, double that again for a large family.
