Yes, even as the Democrats brought up Ted Kennedy and tonight will have Bill Clinton where are some of the "stalwart" Republicans?

Seriously. As far as I know neither of the Bushes cheated on their wives nor did Cheney. Palin is still iwth Todd and seems no problem there.

Plenty of ammunition (need more ammo right Skeeter?) with the likes of Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton for sure. Still this brings me back to the question. Where are the Bushes, Cheney, Palin etc......?

Other than Cheney shooting somebody it seems like a pretty super group. Moral, Americans, able to arrange words into a sentence.

One might surmise that they would be just what the Republican party needs.

Are they hiding? Are they being hidden?
Do they not care? Are they an embarrasment?

    Where are they and why?

Well, let's see. The elder Bush is getting on in years and is pretty much feeble. So that leaves him out. The younger Bush has previously stated that he's staying out of politics for the most part. So that leaves him out. Cheney's heart condition precludes him from getting overly worked up, so the convention would have definitely been a no-no for him. As far as Palin goes, she was never elected to a national ticket. You might as well say, where are Michael Dukakis, John Edwards, etc.?

And, no I don't think any of them are an embarrassment. The Romney/Ryan ticket can stand on its own. It doesn't need some washed-up, has-been president like Bubba Clinton to try to shine the light on them.

It has always been traditional for all the party leaders to attend their political conventions. Excluding the guy that was president just 4 years ago and was a 2-term president is pretty unprecedented by any measure. The fact that his father, also a former president is also alive makes the absence even more glaring. The fact that Cheney hasn't shut up since he left office and has been excluded also seems like a glaring omission. Palin dropped out of politics NOT! She has been involved in every race around the country from governor to dog catcher. John McCain was there.

The fact that the Repugs are trying to sweep their most recent mistakes under the rug and pretend that they never happened is a testament to their cynical belief that the people of this country are complete and total idiots. I can't disagree with their assessment of their own base but the rest of us aren't quite that stupid.
