Legitimate Rape~~~Ask Todd Akin

I couldn't care less what party this guy belongs to. Stupid is stupid.

“It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare,” Mr. Akin said of pregnancies from rape. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.”

 

I guess there's an easy way to tell whether rape is legitimate or not. If it's legitimate then you can't get pregnant because your body's natural rape defense response kicks in and thwarts the union of egg and sperm. Or something along those lines. I'm not sure of the mechanics that are allegedly operating here.

On the other hand if the rape is not legitimate then apparently you can get pregnant because you were actually enjoying the rape and therefore the rape defense response is not triggered. I think Akin believes this and I don't think he "misspoke" at all. He simply lacks the courage to publicly stand by his convictions. So not only his he an idiot, he's also a coward.

 

Apparently chances are good that Akin will quit tomorrow.

Maybe it is like one of those ceilings that comes down from above like in Indiana Jones before he grabs his hat - the Indy Hat Roll scene. The hat could play the role of the sperm. Most of the time the ceiling is going to slam shut in a rape with the hat safely on the other side.

Sometimes, though, there will be a little Indy in there that grabs the hat and the woman will get pregnant anyway.

I can't figure out why people are suddenly so outraged. This distinction between rape and "forced rape" has been around on the Right since the 1980's. You can research the Right sponsored bills that have included this language and there are no shortage of them. There are just people on the Right that believe this nonsense and occasionally they make the mistake of vocalizing their silly beliefs in public. Check out Paul Ryan's affiliation with this language some time. Disturbing is all I can tell you.

 

Akin is still leading McCaskill in the polls. Folks in Missouri must have taken his apology to heart.

 

I'm sure that someone here can tell us what the difference between "legitimate rape" and "forced rape" is. And how they both differ from plain old workaday rape. Good a time as any to get this cleared up.

 

I believe forced rape IS legitimate rape to them. The other type of rape they believe is the kind where the woman is actually asking for it and enjoys it.

 

That should make people like you happy. A guy with the drop-dead stupid beliefs Aken has is leading in some poll that had to have come out before his stupid statement. You must be so proud anyway.

I don't consider Akin any more "stupid" than a comparable Democrat. There will be things that I don't necessarily agree with from any candidate, but generally speaking, I prefer Republicans to Democrats. I don't know what you're referring to when you say, "people like you" unless you're referring to a conservative political stance. Also, I don't know what you mean by, "happy". I'll be happy if a Republican takes McCaskill's senate seat, but statements like Akin's don't make me "happy" (or sad for that matter).

 

Speaking of rape, have you had a chance to view the questions I asked in the other thread in regards to your witnessing the rape of college girls?

 

You seem proud of the fact that Akin is leading in the polls, albeit probably only until the next poll is taken. Akin isn't a pariah on the Right. His views on rape are actually common in your party. Old white men thinking that every woman is like their Stepford wives but the truth is that in general are much, much smarter than idiots like Akin.

 

Don't remember any questions or why I would care to answer any of your questions.

 

Can't get anywhere with the facts so you are going to try the race card, huh?

 

Or, more likely in my opinion, they don't think he had anything to apologize for in the first place.
