See, I would have thought that you'd have paid more attention to the fact that I was calling you a paranoid gun nut but if you would rather focus on my real-world experiences rather than address my criticisms of you, well I can see why you chose this weird tangent.

 

...just an editorial comment...like when you bragged about owning property in FL or owning a driveway full of cars or getting a 60k raise at the expense of the students...

I'm delighted that you've never been confronted with a situation in your life where you've required a gun. Some of us aren't as fortunate as you. I hope you're never confronted with a situation where you'll need a gun, but some of us will be. So, please stop trying to take away our Constitutional right to bear arms. There are those of us who appreciate our right to defend ourselves.

 

I saw a guy without a helmet riding a motorcycle today. Obviously he has never needed to wear a helmet. I have ridden motorcycles plenty of times and I have never needed to wear a helmet either. But I am man enough to say I was too afraid to ride without wearing a helmet. I have the same crippling fear when I ride a bicycle in traffic.

 

I think that I'm saying that you have a Constitutional right to be a paranoid gun nut. If you'll notice, I never said one word about the 2nd Amendment, banning guns, or anything along those lines but you have to attempt again to put words in my mouth to satisfy your own warped perceptions.

Like I said, I'll risk being the victim of some crime but I will not risk shooting someone I love. You seem perfectly comfortable taking that risk. That's your issue. In the worst case scenario, I am the victim of a crime or even killed. Your worst case scenario is having to live with shooting some innocent kid or your own family member. Nice!

 

How can you tell that he never needed a helmet?

 

Looked like his brain box was still intact and he appeared to be still alive.

Unless he is the type of guy who needed a helmet once, was wearing one, and then said "Well, that's the only time I'll ever need that!"

 

Maybe he recovered from his last "helmet-less" accident with only nonvisible injuries and is still too proud (By proud I mean stupid) to wear one now?

 

Maybe...but, if he was able to recover with no visible injuries, did he really need a helmet? Like they say: What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger...or leaves you in a coma.

 

Helmets or "Brain Buckets"

Maybe it was a long recovery. My older brother was hit on his motorcycle by a drunk driver when he was 18. Fortunately, he was wearing a helmet that did save his life and he spent 4 months in the hospital. You could not tell today that he had this accident and here is the weird part. He remembers dying and floating above his body before waking up in the hospital. He did die and it didn't make him stronger.

 

I believe it's better to be prepared than to wish you had been prepared.

 

Because of this one statement I isolated, lil moen, takiji & iqless would call you a paranoid gun nut.

 

Somehow I doubt it but if any of them do, big deal. I won't lose any sleep over it.

When there is a reasonable possiblity that your life might be in danger but you are more the type that grows a couple of inches taller knowing that the gun in your pocket that gives someone with your intellectual and physical capacity the ability to stand along side real men. You remind me a lot of George Zimmerman. You're a bad situation looking for a reason to pull a gun out of your pocket and show everyone what a real man you are. I've been around guns for sport all my life and people like you give guns a bad name. Short little cowards with big dog dreams.

I see no reason to sugarcoat the truth for people like you.
