Sorry, sorry, sorry, I've just heard this meme for so long that even in the absence of any kind of proof whatsoever that trickle down/supplyside economics actually benefits anyone else other that the very wealthy that I just thought that it must be true. I remember exactly the words George Bush used when he passed his first tax cut right after he stole took office back in 2001. At his address to the joint session of Congress in February 2001, President Bush said, "The people of America have been overcharged, and, on their behalf, I'm here asking for a refund." Never mind the $5.6 trillion in debt at the time, he simply wanted to hand back as much money to the wealthy as he could no matter what the situation was with the debt. These are Bush's words so I find it a little hard to believe that the same Republicans that bought this load of crap intend to do anything about the debt except hand everything over to the wealthy again. They deserve it.
I won't parse out your entire line, but the latest estimate of deficit created by Obamacare is $2.6T according to the CBO. I really think that "adds trillions to our deficits and to our national debt, and pushes those obligations onto coming generations" BTW, it also increases/adds many taxes from Individual Mandate Excise Tax to Special Needs Kids Tax to Tax on Medical Device Manufacturers. Yep! That is how to reduce medical cost - turn them all into taxes in stead of medical expence.
(hanging in air, looks for rope)...Is that the thing, wayyy up there, that this (points) ...fraying string, is tied to? (looks up, down, and around) We're boned lol (scratches head, thinks out loud)...If only there was some kind of "miracle" crop that could fill the State's coffers while simultaneously easing the suffering of it's citizens. (whistles nonchalantly as he turns and walks away)
To do another one of my many check lists: Alienate women with pointless reproductive restrictions and calling them sluts for protesting. CHECK! Alienate African Americans and Hispanics with offensive remarks and immigration restrictions. CHECK! Alienate senior citizens by selecting Paul Ryan as your VP and his plan to kill Medicare. CHECK and CHECK!! Have I missed anything? Oh yeah! Dogs.
Well it looks like Mittens is not totally entirely enthralled with Ryan's budget. Or more likely he has the good sense to mute his enthusiasm in public. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap...zYzuiA?docId=0af2834e0ffc4b91854facab66b5f243
Paul Ryan’s record: In 13 years, he has passed a total of TWO pieces of legislation, one of which was naming a post office the other piece of legislation was a tax increase on arrows used for hunting. Nice Pick Mittens! I always wondered where Butch ended up. View attachment 502
And then there is Ryan's love of all things Ayn Rand in his own words. Then again, what exactly did Ayn Rand really believe that Paul Ryan is so enamored with? In a nutshell, that is everything I have always known about Republicans. Cold, heartless, self-interested, Me, me, me...
I don’t know why Obama would even be an issue here since he has been president for almost 4 years and has signed into law a boatload of legislation in that time including the ACA. But just since he left Illinois politics and was in the Senate a little over 3 years, here is what he has done. This is nothing you couldn’t have looked up yourself but I’m just a kind person I guess. Barack Obama sponsored 137 bills from 4 Jan 2005 until 16 November 2008. Two became law. This figure does not include bills to which Obama contributed as cosponsor, such as the Coburn-Obama Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 or the Lugar-Nunn Cooperative Proliferation Detection, Interdiction Assistance, and Conventional Threat Reduction Act of 2006. Nor does it include amendments to other bills, although in the Senate these are not required to be germane to the parent bill and can therefore effectively be bills in their own right. During the same time period, Obama has co-sponsored 689 bills in total; 408 of which had secured his support by the day they were originally introduced in the Senate.
So, when comparing apples to apples (or senator to senator), they both only had 2 bills passed. Yet somehow, that is a negative for Ryan but a positive for Obama. Yep! I get it.
Ayn Rand - atheist. Probably her only redeeming value. Aside from the fact that she looks just like Nurse Diesel. Wonder what the large theocratic contingent among the Rethugs thinks of Ryan's adulation of a rabid and vocal non-believer.
Here's the theme from the weekend news: Dems: The Ryan budget proposal was bad Reps: What budget proposal has BO offered up in the last 4 yrs? Dems: Ummm, new subject, please! Dems: Ryan is going to gut Medicaire Reps: BO cut Medicaire $7 billion in order to help pay for Obamacare Dems: Ummmm, well, uhhhh, look, uhhhh "Bush!!' At least the libs are consistent...Axelrod, Maddow, Wasserman-Schultz, et al stumbled here. One would have thought their answers would have been better rehearsed because they had to see it coming.
I guess it should come as no surprise when one of our resident libs has difficulty relating to someone who does not follow in lock-step to perceived ideology
No I don't think you do get it. This is where being a low-information voter can really bite you in the ass. Ryan is NOT a Senator! He is a House Rep. Ryan has been in Washington 13 years and passed two symbolic pieces of legislation. Obama was in the Senate 3 years and has a heck of a lot more to show for it than Ryan and that doesn't even take into account his presidential record. Agree with his agenda or not, Obama has been prolific legislatively.
Apparently his fellow Catholics, the Bishops no less, disagree with his Randian philosophy but he says that they don't speak for all Catholics, which of course they do being Bishops and all.
