(ala Glenn Beck) "They're in the walls, people! (wipes sweat off brow)They're in the walls!!!" (Begins singing to David) "...I'm on the outside...I'm lookin' in...I can see through you, see your true colors....'Cause inside you're ugly...Ugly like me...I can see through you...See to the real you..."
BO's path & the one proposed by Romney both led to the same ending (bankruptcy), the difference being BO's cost the country untold billions. BO also forced the closure of many, many privately owned dealerships & put many, many Chrysler/GM suppliers out of business. How many jobs were lost there? Hundreds of thousands? A million, maybe?
The goal was to prevent hundreds of thousands of people from losing their jobs. The automotive industry was collapsing. Even Jr. agreed something had to be done...and it "took a lot of thinkin'" for him to realize the scale of the problem, that the economy was in freefall, and that there was no time to "pass the hat" to Obama. Or is it that their argument is one that is against the initiatives that reversed the freefall ...one of wanting additional hundreds of thousands of people requiring government assistance ...individually versus corporately? Either way, the government was going to wind up having to support those people...THE ECONOMY WAS IN A FREEFALL .......and only the government had the power to stop it. Of course, those people could have "bucked up", "tightened their belts", "grinned and beared it", etc. ...like they didn't oy... so therefore they were not in need of assistance... ...which is rather cruel and unnecessary, IMO.
What exactly did the gov't stop from happening? The end result was ultimately the same but BO's actions prolonged it & cost us billions.
I do not pretend to know enough about the banking problems to know if we should/should not have bailed them out. However, Obama cost many jobs trying to save the auto industry only to have them declare bankruptcy in the end despite his flailings. From what I can piece together, declaring bankruptcy in the first place would have saved more jobs and further put the industry in better stead for future growth as well as their suppliers. However, the one thing that would have been hurt more were the retiree's golden parachutes they got from Obama.
If the absolute truth be known, I wouldn't bailout any private company or bank with tax dollars no matter what the consequences nor would I give unending subsidies to the most profitable companies on the planet. What ends up happening no matter who gets elected is that those with the gold get to make the rules. The only choice we as owners of this country get to make is which party gets to pander to the wealthy. If you've noticed, we don't seem to have a rash of companies going under right now nor anything even close. They did fine before, during, and after the Great Recession of 2008. So who is suffering right now? That's easy. The poor, the middle class, and even those on fixed incomes to some extent but not the wealthy. How do you account for this and at the same time want to give those same wealthy people more tax breaks? As I'm writing this I get a phone call from some Democratic organization asking for donations. I told her that not even 1% of all the money collected this campaign cycle will come from people like her and me. The 99 plus percent of the money will come from millionaires and billionaires. Now why would I want to give these wealthy folks even more money so that they can go from 99% to 100% of those that can donate to these campaigns? The wealthy do not create jobs, they buy influence and they seem to have saturated the field already.
Mr Nation.... What have they done with you? That was the most sensible thing you have ever posted in the history of the internet !!!!! I will only disagree with ONE thing........The wealthy DO in fact creat jobs.
2008 was won by Obama who outspent the other guy by 400 or 500 million dollars. 2012 will be won by Romney if he outspends Obama by 400 or 500 million dollars (as some are predicting) or by Obama if they spend about the same (which the Democrats are hoping). Dollars are the only poll numbers that really matter. Sad but true.
Now that Ryan has secured the VP slot, let the games begin. The first salvo might be Romney's speech today...where he berated Obama for running one of the "dirtiest" campaigns in history. The irony of it all lol...no, the balls. A child's game, "calling out" your opponent for "dirty" tactics ...it's so... dirty dirty dirty lol ...but it fires up the base,
