Donny Osmond and Danny Bonaducci once duked it out for real.
    Bonaducci won.

Donny Osmond once debated Frank Zappa.
Zappa mopped the floor with him.

You might stand a chance Joe!

By the way folks I have nothing against Donny Osmond. Hell, I give him credit for taking them on.

I'm sooo glad they went with Romney. It just doesn't stop. While the "Amerkan People" (said in the stentorian tones of Mitch McConnell) apparently have no right to view the tax returns of a guy who wants to be their President, said guy is all over the tax returns of those he's considering as his running mate.

So if tax returns are relevant to the VP selection process why are they irrelevant to the Presidential selection process? Why are the people who Mittens hopes will hire him as Pres not entitled to the same information that Mittens demanded of those he was considering taking on board as his number 2 guy?

Maybe Romney was looking for a couple of more tax dodging tips from Ryan? Just sayin'.

Romney: Hey Paul! You can really deduct the cost of the wienermobile?

First I think that anyone running for President should have to show birth certificates, taxes, etc. With that said all the people attacking Romney for how much he paid or did not pay of which had been released are people of either low intelligence or just filled with hate for who here does not take any and all legal deductions that is allowed. Does anyone here say I am not going to take all of my dependents for I want to pay more, etc. We take what we can take and the problem is with the tax code and not the person or person using tax lawyers/accountants to pay as little as legally possible or in alot of cases get money back.
Now if what I said is a lie then why do we have tax accounts, tax lawyers, Turbo Tax, H&R Block, etc.

You seem to forget that the system wasn't rigged for people of your economic status. So you think the candidates should have to show their taxes but you also think that the people attacking Romney are, "people of either low intelligence or just filled with hate". Hum? Seems kind of like you are double faced here.

Moen, have you seen whom is attacking Romney on TV anchoring a show or in front of the camera . Those same people like the rigged system themselves for they are taking as many tax breaks and entitlements as they can themselves. I find it sad that instead of people demanding a fair flat tax, like the one Forbes proposed as a primary candidate so many years ago, they follow the pied pippers and grasp at the drug of hate that is fed to them.

So whoever those people are that you are referring to on TV also paid off politicians to rig the system for people in their socioeconomic class right along side of people like Romney are as guilty as he is but they simply have no right to saying anything about the rigged tax system. While being at the income level of a TV personality may include them in some type of tax loopholes they primarily earn their income from wages albeit high wages, they certainly do not enjoy the investment income tax rate someone like Romney enjoys. Yes they are wealthier than you and I but I think the tired old meme of nobody has the right to criticize anyone if they themselves benefit from at least some of the same tax loopholes as the super wealthy is just plain naive and perpetuates the rigged system.

A progressive tax system without the special interest deals is a better idea.

There was so much to respond to in Andy's recent posts, but I guess he's gone now. Oh well. He seemed to think that people who want to see Mitt's tax returns are expecting to find evidence of cheating or illegality. Not really. I'd be surprised if there was anything of that sort, actually.

Everything that Mitt did was almost certainly legal imo. Not to be confused with right or ethical. If you can pay nothing legally why would you bother to cheat? I suppose some people would cheat just on principle but I think Mitt probably has accountants who are too smart to let him do that.

I agree. I don't think Romney is guilty of tax fraud but I'm not ruling it out either. I mean companies in this country are routinely nailed for tax schemes and pay large fines. No I don't think it is something that clearly defined in Romney's case. What I think Romney has done is take advantage of every conceivable tax shelter, loophole, and tax dodge open to people of his means and ended up paying little or nothing on huge sums of money. Face it, that is everything the Democrats accuse the wealthy of doing and it would be right there in black and white for everyone to see. Illegal? No, but it certainly would look very bad. Romney certainly couldn't push for even more tax breaks for the wealthy once that bit of news got out.

You realize, of course, that you lefty's are getting all lathered up over something that some mysterious guy who Harry Reid claims exists (but whose identity he won't divulge) & who has intricate knowledge of Romney's personal tax filings says he thinks he knows, right? Think about the path you have to follow to connect any dots there.
And you call folks who want proof BO was actually born in the US kooks?

Seems like Harry Reid could be disproven rather easily doesn't it? But for some reason, he has been. Hum?

Not only disproven but totally discredited. And it would would do the opposite for Mittens. He would have ammunition that he could use to good effect for the rest of the campaign. It all hinges on whether Reid is right or Mittens is. I believe Reid is. But of course if the tax returns proved otherwise then I'd change views immediately and admit it. I'm not a Republican.

David, it's the same old double-standard we always see from the left. It's a Constitutional requirement that a president be a US citizen, but in Obama's case he didn't release his birth certificate until well after he became president. The left was as silent as a church mouse on that issue. HOWEVER, a presidential candidate only has to release his tax records AS A COURTESY, but the left is clamoring over this as if its the scandal of the century. - - yawn - -

So, the issue of releasing one's tax return is so that every voter can see how much income a person had and the amount of taxes he paid on that income. Therefore, if people want to know a candidate's income then it must certainly be a deciding factor in their vote. If a person was unsuccessful and went into debt (say, Harry Truman for instance) or was very successful and earned millions (say Jimmy Carter for instance) will it sway their vote? Probably not. I don't believe Truman or Carter were elected based upon the taxes they paid or their personal wealth (or lack thereof).

I wonder if people would not have voted for Kennedy (one of the richest presidents in modern times) had they known the estate he was due to inherit was worth nearly one billion dollars? I don't think it would have mattered at all.

Name any other president that ever had to release his birth certificate. It was a Right-wing birther conspiracy theory that no president should ever have to have lowered himself to address. But since he did put the nonsense to bed by releasing his birth certificate, why can't Romney do the same thing and release he taxes? It seems that Obama was proven right while Mittens is still hanging there with his ass in a sling. Just release your taxes Romney and prove everyone wrong. The double standard is that Obama released his birth certificate but Romney won't release his taxes.

Yep, the lefties in control of the BO campaign created this as a distraction & their mindless minions didn't disappoint...they bit hook, line & sinker.

By the way, Kennedy was rumored to have been the brains behind (off the record, of course) many of the tax loopholes that exist today...I had heard, when he died, something like 90% of his estate was shielded from taxes thanks to the loopholes he created.

Right-wing birther conspiracy? REALLY? Let's take a closer look:

The "birther" lawsuit nonsense was actually started on August 21, 2008 by none other than Philip Berg, a Pennsylvania attorney and self-described "lifelong Democrat" and former Democratic Chairman of Montgomery County, PA.

In the lawsuit Berg filed, he alleges:

·That Obama was not born in Hawaii, as he claims, but was actually born in Kenya, his father’s homeland.

    · That Obama’s mother was in Kenya in the late stages of her pregnancy and airlines at the time would not let her fly back to Hawaii at such an advanced time of pregnancy.

    · That Obama’s grandmother on his father’s side, a half brother, and a half sister all say Obama was born in Kenya. In October, 2008, Berg announced that he had a recording of the grandmother talking about the birth and that she was in the birth room when it took place.

·That Obama was born on August 4, 1961 but his birth was not registered in Hawaii until August 8, 1961 and that the registration and a Honolulu newspaper announcement of the birth were fabricated.

·That there is not agreement in Obama’s family about what hospital in which he was allegedly born in Hawaii.

·That according to Wayne Madison, a journalist with Online Journal, a GOP research team sent to Mombosa, Kenya, found a certificate registering the birth of Barack Obama, Jr. at a maternity hospital indicating his birth to a Kenyan father and a U.S. mother.

·That if he was born in Kenya, he cannot be a U.S. citizen because the law stated that his mother would have had to have lived 10-years in the United States, 5 of which were after the age of 14. Since she was 18 at the time of Obama’s birth, she did not meet the residency requirements for passing U.S. citizenship to Obama.

·That when Obama’s mother married an Indonesian man and took Obama to Indonesia when he was 6-years old, he would have lost his U.S. citizenship and become Indonesian. Indonesia at the time did not recognize dual citizenship.

    · That when Obama was registered to attend school in Indonesia, the registration form listed him as “Barry Soetoro” (his stepfather’s last name), listed him as Indonesian, and listed is faith as Islam.

·That according to the law at the time, Obama’s mother would have lost her U.S. citizenship by marrying an Indonesian and living in Indonesia. Four years later she returned to Hawaii and divorced her Indonesian husband. Berg said that she could have regained her U.S. citizenship by taking an oath of allegiance to the United States but that there is no record that she did. Therefore, Obama would not have been able to regain his own citizenship until the age of 18 and himself take an oath of allegiance to the U.S. Berg said there is no record of that ever happening. Berg concludes that not only may Obama not be eligible to be president, but that he may be an illegal alien.

·That Obama traveled to Pakistan at the age of 20 and traveled using an Indonesian passport. Had he regained his U.S. citizenship, according to Berg, he would have traveled using a U.S. passport.

·In response to questions about his birth, Obama posted a birth certificate on his campaign website, but Berg contends that it is a forgery and that forensic experts have determined that it is a altered version of the birth certificate of Obama’s half sister, Maya Kasandra Soetoro, who was born in Indonesia but whose birth record was also forged to make it appear that she was born in Hawaii.

·That when Obama registered for the Illinois Bar he lied and said “none” when asked about any former names.

Regardless of all this, as I've stated on this forum many times, I'm not a birther. Never was. However, even you must admit that some of these things could initiate questions in a person's mind as to whether or not Obama met the Constitutional requirement of citizenship. All these allegations coming from no less than a Democrat attorney would certainly raise questions. So, once these questions were raised, I don't think it was unfair for some people to question Obama's citizenship or to scrutinize his eligibility to be the president under the Constitution.

... and just to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges, Romney has released his birth certificate. This copy was obtained from the State of Michigan on January 18, 2012 for those of you paying close attention:
