I was going to wait until Romney chose a running-mate before posting this poll, until I realized how pointless that would be...it's highly likely his first declared choice wouldn't be his last. :D

So yes, if you hadn't known it before now, I voted for Obama. ;)

I have chosen to not allow for the "public display" of your vote.

I think you're going to get no surprises here. The Rombots will vote for anyone with an (R) behind their name and the Dems are simply happy with their choice 4 years ago and know that the second 4 years are going to be even better.

Obstructionism on a record pace will continue as the Right claws at power it feels entitled to.

BTW David, nice picture of you and Huck. You definitely look like you run 10 miles a day. ;) Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!

I doubt Coin or rlm will vote, I believe both of us have been "ignored" (it's about time!) ...but it's relatively safe to say they are for Romney. David will almost certainly make his vote known, he shouldn't have any issue with casting it, anyway. Other active members can post at their leisure as well.

The same for those who have never posted, or rarely post, who want to wait until more people have voted.... or for this thread to disappear "into the abyss" of old threads a bit more. For those people especially, I chose to have this poll open through October, to give them every opportunity to cast their vote (if they so wish) in private.

But, in case some of them are unaware I'll say this in bold:

All members, whether they have ever posted or not, are welcome to cast their vote.

The use of "private voting" in the thread title is to say that other members cannot see your vote, that it isn't made public knowledge.

And yeah, the pic was a cool find. I think David looks good enough, I guess... kinda resembles the old Huckster. What I really wanna know is the story behind "Huck's"s "off-the-cuff crack about someone pointing a gun at Obama"...was that in the news back then? *made in may, 2008

This election is so depressing already that thinking of a choice between these 2 to lead the country for the next 4 years makes me ill.

My state is a lock for Obama so I am free to vote for Mickey Mouse if I want to.

(grabs pen and ballot, begins writing)...

    "...Mickey....M-o-u-s-e..."

    ("checks" box)

    "Check!"...

    (looks around room)

    ..."Anyone else?"

That "necro-post" of David's that I read... about Huckabee's comment during a speech at an NRA meeting... was vaguely familiar to me, but I couldn't remember his exact words. So I looked 'em up. ;)

Huckabee said this in his speech at the NRA meeting in Louisville, Kentucky in mid-May, 2008...after a loud noise was heard off-stage:
Yep, that sounds familiar lol ...to be fair, I'll post the statement he later put out explaining the comment:
I don't think it offended or disparaged Obama much...but it did probably put the thought of pointing a gun at the Senator into the heads of a few of the more crazy anti-Obama people. The Huckster seems to have missed that point.

I would have to say that in a straight choice between President Obama and Mick Romney I would (If I could) vote Romney and my reasons for that is I think that we the Brits would get more support from him if things go bad with Argentina again than we would from President Obama (he has already shown a lack of support while many reps have done the opposit. Here I am talking about the Falkland Islanders right to decide there own future)

Now, that's a breath of fresh air. But, it's "Mitt", not "Mick". Perhaps you're thinking of Jagger or Taylor. :)

Republi-CONS are always for war. Not that they know how to fight one they just like the profiteering that goes along with it. I am unclear why these islands mean so much to the UK. Perhaps you could fill us in about why they mean so much to you.

Well for one thing I would have liked him to have taken the time to check what might upset his allies before embracing the Argentineans, then I would have liked him to understand the right to self determination for a people and to speak up for that right after all I thought that was one of the founding principles of the US.

Why is it important to us? Well it has something to do with the sacrifices we made to remove the Argentineans from the Islands after they invaded in 1982, prior to that we had been willing to discuss joint sovereignty despite the opposition to that of the Islanders.
Since the war it was decided by our gov that the wishes of the people came before the wishes of the Political parties.

We have been on the Islands since the 1700 and some of the families on those Islands have lived there for as long as Argentina has been a country. We dislike the idea of them been dictated to by Argentina

When Spain finally granted them Independence there was no mention of the Falklands and the Spaniard who oversaw the process then went on to spend some 6 weeks visiting the Islands and even fired a salute to the flag LOL (we were the 1t country to recognize Argentina as free)

We even had a treaty of eternal friendship with Argentina were they made no claim for the Islands but stated there were no outstanding differences between our countries

    Hope that explains it somewhat

Ps I should point out that we do not want a war but I am not quite so sure about Argentina they preach peace but continually throw insults and provocations our way for example the recent Olympic vid they did showing a sportsman running up and down on a 1st world war Memorial on the Islands, or blocking any ship flying the UK flag from entry to there ports, stopping any charter flights to the Islands from overflying Argentine air space, calling for a economic attack on British interest within the country! Mayhaps you don't see this as a provocation but we do :)

    *Bump*

Sorry. I just figured I may as well "bump" this poll as well, as well as the medical marijuana one.
